Sneak Peak photos of Sight & Sound Theater (Part 1 of 2)

The Branson Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors were invited for a hard hat tour of the new Sight & Sound Theater being built off Shepherd of the Hills Expressway in Branson, Missouri. Tom Fish, AIA is the Executive Director of Operations. A long-time Branson resident, Tom and I were neighbors for over 16 years. He welcomed us at the former Expressway Inn next door, which was purchased by Sight & Sound and is where we started our journey. I snapped over 40+ photos of the tour, but unfortunately can't post more than 10 photos per thread. Dang it Basil – you and your forum rules! [Click here for Part 2 of 2]

The photos below are low-res so that members with dial-up connection don't crash while trying to load them. Please check the additional thread for animal photos. If you have any questions about the theater, please don't hesitate to post.

Heading off towards the back-end of the mammoth 339,000 square foot building. This thing could easily babysit a couple of Wal-Mart Supercenters.

To the far left is a spine for the dozens of 40 foot stage pieces that fit together to form Noah's Ark. They are made out of aluminum so that the stage crew can easily roll them into place. Take note of the large ceiling fans above. Each one could easily lift a small helicopter.

One of the many completed stages ready to be placed together. Local artists (see dude in white T-shirt on second floor) work off pictures to complete an exact reproduction of the envisioned ark.

Another finished stage ready to be placed with the completed puzzle pieces. These are all housed in a gigantic warehouse located towards the back-end of the building.

Inside the main theater. A 300 foot stage sits 180 degrees around the audience so as to give the feeling of being right inside the ark. It even rains inside! During the introduction of the show, dozens of live animals will walk through the audience to be loaded into place on the ark.

More of the audience arena.

Here's the stage being set into place. It was imported from Russia and built to withstand years and years of future human and animal use.

Floor-to-ceiling space. Large lights and exhaust systems allow for crews and machinery to work in all kinds of conditions.

This is the main entrance lobby. Just a couple of months left before the carpet goes down.

Large dome over the main lobby entrance. From the center point to the bottom rim is over 30 feet! It'll be painted to look like the sky coming through the theater. I almost fell over backwards just trying to shoot it!

Please see the second thread for the animal photos…

Great Shots of the new Theatre.
Thanks so much, Kid Future.
I just showed my husband and we are impressed.
Looks like the Sight and Sound Company has faith in Branson's future.

As I looked at Charlie's first picture above, it struck me that he must have taken it from about the same place I took mine back in January, so I went an looked. It's cool to see the progress with the 2 pictures next to each other:
