Florida Keys

We are in the beginning planning stage of a February trip to Florida and would like to go the Keys this trip. For those who have been to the Keys, do you have any words of wisdom to share with me. We are going with another couple and have just started researching the lodging both hotels and condo's and also the guys would like to do a charter fishing experience. If anyone has any suggestions in these areas they would be welcome. Both the lodging and the fishing excursions look to be quite costly especially as we relate it our Branson vacations. One thing we are considering is to stay in Marathon and do day trips...any thoughts?

I don't have any experience type info for you about the are, but my husband and I are going to Marathon Island in February of '08. We'll be staying at a resort we own a timeshare with. I'm excited. Never been there before, but we're both looking for some time to relax and enjoy the scenery. Of course we'll be right on the ocean/gulf and also plan to do the Key West trip at least once, as well as in some other area spots. Will fly into Ft. Lauderdale rather than Miama beccuse it's a little smaller airport. Hope we can get a fairly good buy on air, though the one I planned to go with is no longer offering flights to that airport.
