We are planning a trip to Branson next summer 2008 and wanted to get recommendations for shows for kids that would be playing during that time. What shows does everyone receommend for kids? What are the must see shows for adults?
In advance, that you for taking the time to answer my question! Eric |

It's a little hard to plan this far in advance as the line up of shows is always changing. However, the new Sight and Sound Theater with Noah's Ark should be open by then, and I know it's on our tentative list for next summer.
Not knowing how old your kids are, my kids (13, 11 and 7 right now) are wanting to see The Haygoods, the Duttons, Pierce Arrow, Dixie Stampede, Magnificent 7, and the Presleys. Other shows we've seen in the past that they enjoy are Hamner-Barber (magic and comedy), Acrobats of China, and Showboat Branson Belle. Most of the shows in Branson are enjoyed by all ages. There are a very few that I wouldn't recommend for families (for example, Yakov's humor is geared towards adults), but for the most part, shows will appeal to everyone in your group. Have a great trip! Keep checking back; as it gets closer to next summer, there will be more updates about what's playing in town. |

It's hard to say what different kids would enjoy. Celebrate America is a good show, but I doubt it will be around next year. They aren't getting many in the audience and the early time-slot doesn't help. I believe Gene will be replacing it with Country Tonight. I took my kids to see the new Starburzt kids show and thought it wasn't worth the price. It's cheesy with little talent and entertainment value. The songs they do aren't nearly good enough to compete with the original singers of the songs. The Baldknobbers show is one my family returns to frequently. Good luck.......I;m sure you'll find plenty to do in Branson.

I agree with both Teacherkim and msmoq.
It would be very difficult to recommend or plan a trip that far in advance. (or it would be for me) Not knowing the age of your kids, or even knowing that, different kids like different types of shows and activities. Go with what your kids 'like'.

I always recommend the Hamner Barber show for kids. I assume they will be in town next year and their show is one of the best I have seen in town for kids. I am in my 40s and love the show also so it isn't JUST for kids, it is a good alround show but it keeps kids attention for the entire 2 hours.

Any magic show would be a good choice. Though, I don't like most of the magicians's personalities, all of them put on great acts.
Joey Riley and Dixie Stampede are shows that entertain everyone regardless of their age.

I was in town for 4 shows last week. Paul Revere, Baldknobber, Jim Stafford and the Haygoods.
I thought all the shows were family oriented. Didn't hear a swear word or a joke that was inappropriate for kids at any one of them. There were kids in the audience for all of them and they had a great time. Isn't it cool that we can still laugh and enjoy a great show without all the bad words and sex jokes? |

The Let's Pretend Players - "Cinderella" & "The Wizard of Oz" at Branson Star Theater. These are musical comedy versions of the well-loved stories, with an all-children cast.

Recommended shows for kids for August 2008
Quote:
Starburzt Kidz will be performing a Positive Pop show by kids for kids, opening June 9. It will be a morning show - 10:00 a.m. Took my niece to see this show last year and she loved it. There is supposed to be a show at the God and Country Theatre this year. Saw the brochure that said "Not recommended for parents without kids present." Checked it out at www.godandcountrytheatre.com and looks like it will be fun for all ages. |

Knowing the ages of the kids would help, but I think The Haygoods would be great for kids. There is so much energy in the show, I think it would keep the kids interested. I think The Duttons and the Hughes Brothers would keep them interested too, with all the kids.

Rockin' Monster Bash will be playing at the God & Country Theatre June 17 through August 17 at 7PM. This show promises to be lots of fun for adults and kids alike.
