The New Giant Swing--WOO-WH0!!
I find my new most favorite ride in Branson on this last weekend trip.
It is the new Giant Swing at Silver Dollar City....woo-who....what a ride!!!! ![]() You go 75 feet up, at 45 miles per hour speeds, and are swung back and forth by the two large arms at opposite times. When one side is in the air, facing pavement 75 feet stright down, the other side is in the air, with their backs to the pavement. It is awesome...really awesome...I didn't hold on...I'm one of those weirdos that have to have their hands up in the air for those type rides, and this one was no exception. It was a little scary a couple of times, and it makes your stomach feel just a little queasy when we were thrown up on your back, but WOW...it was simply amazing fun! Everyone should try it at least once. I was able to talk my daughter on,and then she talked her hubby on, but I never got my hubby even close. They also loved it. If you get a chance, give it a ride...I think that you will be less scared, and more amazed. ![]()

Yes, it is indeed a great ride, and I'm glad you think so.
It's funny though, they've been having massive troubles with vandalism in the last stretch of the queue. Last I was there, the ride-op caught a boy scrawling his name across the wall (because everyone'll think he's so cool if he does) and promptly told him he would have to have park security escort him out. The boy's family then got into a shouting match with the ride op, saying that because there were no blatant signs at that point in the queue saying not to vandalize, they should be able to write whatever they want on the walls. Some people... Anyway, yeah, the ride is fantastic, albeit short. Try to get seated on the rows facing away from the park, so you can look down at the Lost River. |

Oh my Gosh...you mean people actually RIDE the Swing!!
![]() LOLWe're coming over in August with 5 kids (friends children) who have never been to SDC. When we're watching the commercials on the Swing, I asked my DH if he's going to get on the Swing with the kids, so they can ride it!! ![]() ![]() He looks at me strangely.... ![]() and says 'ARE YOU NUTS'...people don't actually 'ride that'.....those are hired actors just for the commercials!! ![]() ![]() So NO....we won't be riding the swing!!! We too are Fraidy Cats!! |

ride it once for me and yell, "YEE-HAW"! ![]() High rides, like ferris wheels and roller coasters have always made me sick, even as a kid I coldn't enjoy the thrills others did! ![]() Even if I wanted to, my 'ticker issues' won't let me! So ride once for the Blaze2! ![]()

I would love to ride it but after watching it I think it would make me sick!!! My husband won't get on it either. We both love and do the rollercoasters but things like that make us feel
all day. |

I'm with ya Pati!
Love that swing! The best is getting to the highest point and looking above your head. You get a great view of the park landscape UPSIDE-DOWN!! I would love to be one of those actors in the commercials. Getting paid to ride those rides would be fantastic!

I got to ride the "Screamin' Swing" at Knott's Berry Farm last summer, and can't wait to ride this one! The one in California only held 4 passengers per swing, two facing each direction. It also cost extra to ride.
Are the lines for Giant Swing still over an hour long? |

No, I ain't 'fraid. I would get sick just watchin' this thing. I've heard of people having such severe motion sickness that they can't even watch a saucer of Jello wiggle. I'm not that bad but pretty durn close. I've even got sick on the back of a motorcycle going up AR Hwy 59 to Appletown.
