Thumbs up The Mike Walker Show

Just returned from Branson on Friday, June 15th, and had a wonderful time. While there, we watched Mike Walker perform at Mickey Gilley's Theater.
(5:00 P.M.) He is known as the "World's Greatest Singing Impressionist" with approximately 200 different impressions. It was one of the most amazing shows I've seen, and we have seen almost every show in Branson. He "kicked off" the show with Conway Twitty's "Hello Darling" and this brought the audience to their feet. One would have thought it was Conway, himself. Mike Walker has a 5-octave range with his voice, and he definitely used it. There were so many different singers/songs he did, that it would take several pages to write about. George Jones, Gatlin Bros., Stevie Wonder, Frankie Vallie, Righteous Bros., Elvis, James Brown, Temptations, Marty Robbins, Roy Orbisson, Louis Armstrong, Kermit the Frog, Fred Flintstone, the Platters, Johnny Cash, and skits of Bill Clinton, Geo. Bush, Reagan, Nixon and more. He included a song dedicated to all Veterans, and finally closed with one of the most beautiful versions of "How Great Thou Art".
After his show, he greeted everyone and signed autographs and took the time to talk with the children, and have pictures made. Mickey Gilley and Joey Riley discovered him about 4 yrs. ago and invited him to Branson. He is certainly a plus for Gilley and Riley, which are two of my favorites.
If you're in Branson, check him out. I think you'll enjoy his show as much as everyone did that evening I was there.

Hi Traci, There were quite a few there, of course it wasn't filled like when Mickey is showing, but for a "new" entertainer just starting out there, the attendance was good. In the middle section, it was not quite half filled, and there were folks sitting on either side, several rows of them.
When I go back to Branson, he will definitely be on the agenda. If one likes impressionist, this guy can't be beat! I told one lady that was standing in line to meet him after the show, that I had never ever seen so much talent in one person before as I had seen in this guy. And I truly meant that. He is talented!

I went on Thurs. June 14th. I agree with Linnatx, it was a great show. The guy is amazing. The only reason I knew about him, was because he sang two songs in the Mickey Gilley show that I attended.

I only saw his pamphlets in Gilley's theater. He needs to get them out to the hotels and restaurants.

I would estimate about a crowd of 80 people on June 14th.

FWIW - I've seen Danny Gans in Las Vegas (@$100 a ticket). Mike Walker is as good as Gans, and it only cost me $66 for 4 tickets.

Hi Rickb31.....Glad to see your post. Isn't this guy truly talented?? I've never seen anyone that could do so many impressions as he did. After the show, I talked to him for a bit, and "sorta mentioned" that advertising would help, but also that "word of mouth" was good too. When I first seen him, he looked a little bit like Patrick Swayze, in some respect. However, I believe that's probably the only star he didn't impersonate.
I purchased his video and watched it with friends and now they have him on their list of "gotta see" entertainers. If Mike Walker stays in Branson, I believe that one day he'll have his own theater.

If he is as good as Danny Gans, then folks need to get to see this guy. The bride and I went to see D.Gans last summer (yes, $100 a pop .... gulp) and he was flat out the best entertainer/best show I have ever seen and I've been to a few goat ropings and lots of county fairs.... and some other stuff! :_)

You convinced me.... I have to go.

Is this the same fella that was on David Letterman maybe three weeks or so ago? I wasn't paying attention until I heard the word Branson then it was nearly the end of this persons performance. There was no interview afterwards.

Hi 'nohona' I do not know if Mike Walker was on The David Letterman Show, I usually watch "Jay" ...However, I was told that a Mike MacRae, Joe Piscopo and Reggie Ray was on the show, over a period of several weeks, and quiet possibly more impressionist were on too. If MW was on, I sure wished I'd of known, because I would have watched.
Thanks for the post.

I don't know about John Tweed, but Jazz singer, Sarah Vaughn, has a 5-octave voice range, and Rachel Martin (chevy and ford commercials I believe)has the same octave range.
I heard Mike Walker do bass and would almost compare him to the Late J.D. Sumner or to Richard of the Oak Ridge Boys, and then imitate the high pitch of Frankie Vallie on Walk Like A Man....
He's just an amazing young man with a talent that won't stop!

Isn't amazing how apparently great shows can fly under the Branson radar?

Dare I use that old "MARKETING" word again.

Seagull, why don't you fly over there and get us one of your very professional reviews---
