El Portal
We had a chance to eat there today. We both had the same combination platter #13. Enchilada, burrito, rellena (sp?) some kind of stuffed pepper. Really enjoyed it. $6.95 each Also had a VIP coupon for cheese dip so had that as well as the salsa for chips. It was spicy a good. Cheery place, very colorful, enjoyed it!

I am going to have to try that place out. I loooove mexican food!!!! My husband is not a big fan. He will eat a regular burrito and taco and that is it. I love the vegetarian food. My girl eats cheese casadias (spelling).

Hubby and I ate here last weekend and it was tasty. The salsa was definitely hot and I like it hot, but, well let just say I could breathe REALLY well after munching on the chips and salsa.
Everything was yummy and the staff was very attentive. Highly recommend!Jennie |

I was the original reviewer of "El Portal" and I am SOOOOOO glad so many of you have taken my advice and gone to this FANTASTIC restuarant!
Mary and I just stopped in a few days ago for an early dinner...Once again, SUPERB service and food...The quality and freshness is awesome! Oh, and to all you locals out there, they DO give a locals discount...You just have to ask for it! If you haven't tried them yet, may I humbly suggest you try their Tamales! Get them on the Ala Cart section of the menu...They are OUTSTANDING! (Trust me, I was born and raised in West Texas (Odessa)...I KNOW what good tamales are supposed to taste like and THESE are the bomb! Again, give these folks your business... They EARN it and DESERVE it!!! Prof. Piper (Terry)

Could someone that has been to El Portal tell me if the sauce they put on the enchiladas is spicy hot or would someone who can't handle to spicy of food be okay with it?

GrandLady...
The Red enchilada sauce is not hot at all... The Green enchilada sauce, that they put on the chicken enchiladas (by request) DOES have a bit of a bite to it. Hope this helps. Prof. Piper (Terry)
