SDC-best things to see and do?

We will be in Branson in June for a week. We will have our daughter, who is almost 3, and my mom. We definately want to do SDC. I've heard they have a second day free pass. Is this still available for this time of year?

What are the must sees for us while at SDC?
How about kid friendly items for our daughter?
What are the best places to eat while there?
Is it stroller friendly?

We want to make the best of our trip and not miss the best areas. I've never been so I really no very little about it.

Any other suggestions for our trip would be appreciated!
thanks!

1 - I assume they still have this. If you go to the park after 3 p.m., you get the next day free. There are some restrictions, so call SDC and find out. Or someone here may know more. This is a great way to come late and see the show at the close of the park and then go the next day to enjoy the park.

2 - Saloon show has been our favorite. I know it has a new show this year, but I am sure it will still be great.

3 - She will still be on the early fringe. She may be able to ride some of the ride, with a parent of course. There are some things geared for younger kids, so just stroll around. She will have a good time.

4 - We love to eat all through the park. Or favorite is the Mill at the front of the part. It is a sit-down buffet inside. Great way to end a busy day at SDC. You really can't go wrong; all the food in the park is yummy.

5 - You will be fine with the stroller. There hardest part is getting it on an off the tram that takes you from the parking lot to the park. When you go into any of the shows, you will be required to leave it outside, but this is not a big deal. We have never had any problem or had anyone bother our stuff. We were nervous the first time, but not anymore.

Have a great time and let us know about all t he fun you had.

we've taken kids a couple of times, first time we struggled with a stroller on and off the tram.... second time we rented one at the park, it was only $7.00 or $10.00 can't remember, whatever it was, it was worth it and a lot easier than the first time.

the Kids Fest should be going on by then, check out www.silverdollarcity.com to see what kid's activities and shows are going in the summer.

otherwise, the way the park is laid out you'll have plenty of time to wander around, look things over then go back to things that interest you.

My 3 yo granddaughter LOVES SDC, some of her favorites - the petting zoo area, riding the train is a MUST, playing in the water area (bring a pair of dry clothes in with you). She is tall enough to ride about half the rides now, some which she has to ride with an adult, but some in the new area of the park she can ride without a parent. I think most younger kids rides require you be 39 inches tall.

I agree, getting a stroller into the park on the trolley system isn't easy - many times we just walk in and don't try to ride the trolley, if the trolley isn't REAL busy, it's easy enough to put the stroller on the trolley. The rented strollers in SDC are hard plastic, and I don't think they look comfortable at all, so we haven't tried that.

I think SDC has a pass that is good for 2 consecutive days - might check their website, or ask at your hotel about it (it cost the same as a one day ticket). That way you can go enjoy the park, go back to the hotel and rest, and return the next day, w/o trying to do it all in one day, which is exhausting for adults, as well as little ones.

I second all of the above! You'll have a great time. One of the best things I've ever read though, is tackle the park in a clockwise direction. It's pretty steep going down, but coming up will be quite a bit easier for you.

Even though I know this, I still have a hard time remembering to do it. Seems that we are usually on the steep side when we decide to head out.

Kidsfest starts June 9 and should have many activities. Go to www.silverdollarcity.com and get more info on food and shows.

We always take our stroller and never have any trouble. This last time there were three fold up stroller on our tram and they all fit up by the driver.

There are some rides in the Grand Exposition for kids. On the other side of the swings they have frogs, bumble bees, and something else that my 2 year old loves to ride. Celebration City also has an area by the farris wheel with several rides for kids under 5.

The most Kid Friendly area is the Grand Exposition. There will be several rides for a 3 year old there. We aren't crazy about any of the food in the park so we usually try to make do with snacks (the tater twisters and the big cookies are pretty good) and then go eat somewhere nice before we head on over to Celebration City. If you go to CC, they have a nice kid's area as well. Oh, and it's definitely stroller friendly. We usually rented one and we hated it when the youngest in our group got too old for a stroller-- it's nice having a place to store everything. Have fun!

Thanks for all the info.
We will be taking our fold up umbrella stroller. We used it at Disney and it has been on many planes. I'm pretty good at opening and closing it fast! It also has a basket underneath, which is handy for carrying in drinks and snacks and a small diaper bag.
I remember at Disney that we went clockwise too to start out, so I will remember that for SDC as well. Seems to be better for getting on rides too!
We are so looking forward to our trip.
Thanks for all the tips!

We have always rented the stroller there. Our stroller was awful and theirs was much easier to maneuver, plus you didn't have to try and get it on and off the tram.

We like to snack all day at SDC. We eat a light breakfast before we go and enjoy the snacks. Some of our favorites over the years: (not all in one trip though)
calico potatoes
kettle corn
caramel apples
funnel cakes
frozen lemonade/strawberry stuff
nutty bavarian
fried twinkie/oreos
pork rinds (you can get free samples of these, they're SOOO good warm)

My dad used to always like to eat at the BBQ place by the lost river, You can sit and eat and watch the rafts float by. The breakfast buffet is good, but then you don't have room for all the other goodies all day!

Just back from SDC with my 3 yo granddaughter - she had to stop and listen to the music EVERY time we passed by a group singing or playing. We checked out the candy store, and enjoyed watching them make peanut brittle. We met Professor Piper at the Magician's Shoppe, where she pretended to be shy, but is still talking about watching him juggle. We went to the Grand Exposition area, where she rode several rides, and headed to Tom Sawyers Landing, where she played in the water until she was exhausted. We did go see the milk cow on the farm, near the giant swing, and she had to ride the train before going home. We were only there for about 5 hours, but it was long enough for her to fall asleep quickly upon leaving the park.

One big change we noticed this years, is that when you go to get on the tram, that there is an effort on part of the drivers to be sure the strollers get on before the other passengers, which is GREATLY appreciated.

Be sure to take your camera - you will all have a good time.

I'm glad to read this ggh! Kudos to the tram drivers! Sometimes we take a stroller, and other times we just rent one at the park. It has always amazed me how some people in line for the tram are so worried about not getting a seat that they will practically jump over the people with strollers who are also trying to board.

Terry, I wish I could have stayed and visited with you longer. I will be back to give you a hug again in the near future - I want to see the pearly whites in person. I know you are apprehensive about the upcoming surgery - I would be too, but focusing on the outcome makes it SOooo much easier! Praying that knowing that you'll be able to enjoy a steak, or Carmel apple in the near future without your mouth hurting, will help ease some of the apprehension.

I think Grandpa has a bat, specially made at SDC, to knock out any young man that gets close to his baby girls, and I agree with you, I think he's going to need it. (You didn't expect me to disagree with you about how cute she is, did you?) I really hope that next time she meets you, she is willing to talk - she's a talker, and not normally the least bit shy.

If you haven't stopped by to meet Professor Piper, stop and introduce yourself - he demonstrated a little brilliant ventriloquism for us, along with his juggling. It was a blessing to me, to get to meet you Terry!

Your above post is too kind,
