Yes...I got a "heads up" on this competition, today. DH does Ice Carvings. Yes Bluesman, there is a National Ice Carving Association. You wouldn't believe some of the things they do...just to have them melt away in a few hours.

I heard prize money for the Titanic Competition is $4,000.

Yes. I would.
I love ice carvings, especially the ones done for Weddings and Banquets.
I am very impressed by the talent of the artists who can carve ice.

For more information, picture, and links to the National Ice Carving Associations site see the piece "TITANIC Lands Another 'First' With Sanctioned Ice Carving Contest" in the Branson Courier. There is $4,000 in prize money. They have a beautiful photo gallery of ice carvings on their site.

If you get the chance to actually watch them carve the ice...it's quite impressive. For the majority of the sculpture, they use a chain-saw.
