snow in branson?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if it snows in Branson. We had plans to come for Thanksgiving, but my daughter broke her collar bone so we're planning on coming up the week before Christmas. The girls are upset about moving the date, so I was hoping to have some info on snow to cheer them up. We live in louisiana so even if it barely falls is more than my kids see. Also now that we are changing plans I am thinking of changing from a hotel to a condo. We want to stay near sdc, so any recommendations will be helpful. thank you!

There's always a possibility. I've never been in Branson when it snows. However, I would think that getting around wouldn't be exactly easy with all the hills. It's too early to know what kind of winter weather there may be.

I lived in Branson pretty much my whole life until about a year ago. It does snow some up there, but not that often. We used to get more ice or a mix than anything and if that is the case there is no getting around because of all the hills in the area. I hope you all have a good time. I am sorry I could not be of much help on where to stay. If it was me though I would not like staying out by SDC it is too far out I feel. Its a good 15 to 20 or sometimes 30 minute drive into Branson. Good luck in finding a place to stay and have a GREAT time.

I agree with Tina, staying out by SDC is too far out, unless SDC is all you are planning on doing while you are in Branson. There are nice condos closer. Are you planning on seeing any shows while you are in Branson? I always like staying close to what ever shows I'm going to see. I do remember one year, I think it was 2000, that my friends went to Branson and they got snowed in. That was a big snow that year. No, wait, maybe that was the year of the ice storm. That was terrible!

If you do decide to stay close to SDC, I highly recommend The Wilderness cabins at Silver Dollar City. I have a review here on the board. Ours was a loft cabin and we had a fireplace. We tried to stay for Thanksgiving, but they were all booked. 90% of the time when going from The Wilderness into Branson, we didn't take 76, but an alternate route (went south out of the campground towards Table Rock, but took a left at the first light... came in right next to Celebration City). There was never any traffic on this road. A month later, we stayed the same number of nights at Cooper Creek Campground, which is in Branson on Taneycomo. We actually put more miles on our vehicle staying at Cooper Creek than we did out by SDC. We went into Branson or Branson West at least once a day when we were at The Wilderness; sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.

No idea on the snow. Hoping for a warm winter, though!

Trust me, you don't want to be in Branson when it snows. Way too many hills and people who have no clue on how to drive in snow conditions.

thanks everyone for the help. we want to stay by silver dollar city b/c we the only shows we plan on doing are dixie stampede and the ones at silver dollar city. my hubby hates shows so we're lucky we're getting him do these. i took you up on your advice teacher kim and am now waiting for my confirmation for the wilderness cabins. my kids were disappointed about the snow but at least it'll be nicer to get around and be at sdc. thank y'all again.
