Top Non-Chain Branson Restaurants

seems like there's a lot of chain restaurants any more in Branson, doesn't it?

after reading the Garfield review and thinking I can drive to one a lot closer than Branson....

I was trying to think of some of the non chain places
right off the top of my head, these came to mind
Danna's
Mcfarlains
Grand Country

LOL ... that thought goes through my mind whenever someone talks about the Golden Corral or Steak 'n Shake. I would like to try the Garfield's someday though since I don't have one within 2 hours from me and have never eaten there. However, when in Branson, I prefer to eat at restaurants that are unique to Branson. Here's some that I'll add to the list ... some I've eaten at; others I'm still waiting to do so....

Candlestick Inn
Branson Cafe
The Shack
Billy Bob's Dairy Land
The Rails

(Had added Shorty Small's to that list, but then found out that it is a chain.... just not locally for me.)

My choices, not that we always ...................

.........dine at them when we visit Branson, but these are my favorites!
Food is not a big thing withus, I'm just as happy with a grilled chicken salad!

Devil's Pool @ Big Cedar Lodge
Top 'O The Rock
Chateau On The Lake
Candlestick Inn
Lone Star Restaurant
Grand Country Buffet

.......and not necessarily in that order!!!

Here are a few I can think of that I do not know to be chains:

Paradise Grill & Steakhouse
Tony Z's Italian Ristorante
Buckingham's Prime Rib & Steakhouse
Gum Rai Thai Restaurant
Majestic Steakhouse (they do have one in Kansas City, but that's the only other I'm aware of)

There are several Mexican restaurants in Branson, and I don't believe any of them to be chains either. (Elenita's & Casa Fuentes for example).

You can find information for these and other restaurants at www.dinebranson.com.

Thanks for these lists......

Its important to me NOT to eat at chains....and we often land at LoneStar cause Hubby likes the Steaks and Salad......

And, since I live in the sticks and have no Olive Garden...I like that chain too........

We need a sticky, dear Moderators, up in this forum...with a list of LOCALLY OWNED RESTAURANTS.....so we don't have to find this thread again...

You're so right about that one and I forgot!
We had Dinner at the chain in Knoxville, but it doesn't 'seem' like a chain!
When a person says chain, I think of:

McDonalds
Sonic
Del Taco
Taco Delite
Wendys
Jack-in-the Box
Burger King
My brain doesn't see Olive Garden as a chain either, BUT it is!!!
Anyway, we like it!

What Branson could REALLY use is a PANCHOS!
A Scrumptios Mexican Buffet!
There are several in our area & I asked them about opening one in Branson.
They smiled & shook their heads "NO"! Too bad, one would do well in Branson!

Bring on the GUAC!
We have a Mexican buffet here (across from the Veterans Museum on 76) called Tony's. I've been there, and to be honest it's kinda hit & miss, sometimes it's great and sometimes, well...not-so-great...

Not with the intention of being unkind,
BUT the Mexican Food in Branson, well.................
Always living in TEXAS, we do know the difference!

Gilley's Menu comes closest to what we're used to eating!

Well...duhhh....
You're in TX ferchristakes! I'm havin a vision of the ZZ Top album - Tres Hombres (with the Mex dinner on the cover) sorry, y'all...obscure reference...
The Mex place up past White Water used to have different owners...
they had a buffet that was killer...chili relenos...huevo rancheros...killer homade guac...it was the real deal. And yes, I have been to Cozumel, Playa Del Carmen, Chichén Itzá... I know the real deal when I see it.
