Wilmington, North Carolina
In a few days we will be off to visit with our friends & see a part of their world!
Wilmington, N.C. is our destination. http://www.cape-fear.nc.us/ ...........and a must see is the Cape Fear River, a movie by the same name was filmed there not once, but twice. We've seen both movies, and both were just as scary! Cape Fear, the movie ~ 1962 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055824/ Cape Fear, the movie:~ 1991 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101540/ Cape Fear River, Lock & Dam 202 mi (325 km) long, formed in E central N.C. by the junction of the Deep and Haw rivers, and flowing southeast to enter the Atlantic Ocean S of Wilmington and N of Cape Fear; longest river entirely within North Carolina. Dams and locks make the river navigable to Fayetteville, but its valley is especially prone to flooding, as happened after Hurricane Floyd (1999). ![]() Battleship Museum ![]() Historice B&B Inns ![]() http://www.bbonline.com/nc/wilmington/ Greystone Inn ![]() Wilmington Waterfront ![]() Rental Beach House . Blaze - have fun!!
It's been YEARS since we've been to Wilmington - make sure you take time to see the Battleship .. and the program they have at night - just make sure to take skeeter spray. It's lovely down there! We usually went more up the coast to Emerald Isle when we lived in Raleigh - but Wilmington was fun to visit too! Michael Jordon went to high school there ... And years and years ago there used to be a shop that was very popular in the Southeast called Dorothy's Ruffled Originial Curtains. The main shop and factory was in Wilmington - I worked for them for about a year ... (at the shop in Raleigh) it was AMAZING how much fabric was in those curtains... ![]() |

My husband's company owns a beach house on Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, and we've visited there several times. I've always been impressed by how clean and friendly Wrightsville Beach is. However, in recent days I have seen several warnings about rip currents off Wrightsville Beach and other beaches in that area, so beware!

Looks like a fun place to visit. I noticed that the beach doesn't have many high rises. That is very unusual these days. Be sure to give us a review when you get back. Have Fun!
