Review - Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater 5/20/06 - Paul Revere & Bill Medley
I really wasn't expecting this show to be as good as it was. Paul Revere & The Raiders were non-stop high energy the entire time they were onstage. Paul is a very good and quite funny front man for the band, with some really crazy antics during the show. He's 69, and if I have half his energy at that age, I'll be very happy.
The Bill Medley half of the show was also excellent. Not quite as high energy as Paul Revere, but a very classy, professionally done show. The Righteous Bros. had so many great hit songs, and Bill did them all. Bill also did a Ray Charles medley which was outstanding. Sound and lighting in the American Bandstand Theater were also top-notch and extremely well done. This is a great new Theater in Branson which I recommend to anyone. I really want to go see The Comets in the 10am show there, because I hear their drummer is 84 years old and still rocking heavily!

We were there last night also and Bluesman's review is right on track. We really enjoyed both the show and the theater.
We also saw the 10 a.m. show, "Curisin' 57" earlier in the week. It may be legitimate to ask, "Does Branson need another 50's show?", but this one was very good. The cast was strong and the set was first class. We would go back to see either show again. |

Actually, The Comets show is at 2:00 p.m. now. We were quite surprised today when we went to the show. I thought we were going to see the Cruisin 57 show but my tickets said The Comets. I went back to the ticket stand and the person told me they had exchanged time slots. Well, anyway, The Comets were "hot" and the 82-year-old drummer was unbelieveable. But then so were each of the other musicians! The saxophone player (age 72)was quite a character and the big bass player (age 72) was fun fun fun! Piano guy and guitarist took a back seat to no one! VERY amazing HIGH ENERGY performance by this group! We were all in rock and roll heaven for an hour-and-a-half non-stop! (There is no intermission in this show - I LOVE THAT!) AND, after the show, they all come out into the lobby to visit, chat, sign autographs, etc.

We were lucky enough to see this group at the VIP Party and my husband still said of all of those who performed that night, and all were fantastic, the Comets were his favorite. Will definitely try to make this show the end of June when we return.
Of course, I'll definitely make plans to see Paul Revere since I have been a fan for years. I hope I have half the energy of these folks at that age. Vickie |

Thanks for all of the reviews everyone.....the theater hadn't opened when we were there in March, so we can't wait to get back to Branson to check these shows out....
