What are Sundays like at SDC?

I am familiar with Worlds of Fun and Six Flags St.Louis and know that Sundays are the day to go if you are picking a weekend day. How are Sundays at Silver Dollar City? I was looking for some information on average attendance at Silver Dollar City but I could not find any.

Sundays are the best...

Dear CWD, It's me Homer Lee & Sundays are the best because it is usually a quieter day at Silver Dollar City. I have worked there for the last 27 years & it doesn't get 'busy' until after church. Right now we are in the middle of the 'World-Fest' which is also a lot of fun along with other great things they have to offer. Right now I play 'Deputy Birdy' of the street shows so come on out & say 'Howdy'! Have a great day & thanks for asking. Always, Terry 'Homer Lee' Sanders

How cool that Homer Lee replied!

We love to go on Sundays (to any theme park). If you're there at opening, you can usually get more done in the first 2 hours than you can at any other point in the day. Spend your first two hours riding rides, then see shows, eat and shop in the afternoon. Perfect!

Homer Lee,

I DID stop and say Howdy to you at SDC on Wednesday, April 12th. Do you remember someone asking which Branson Brother Shows you would be in? I said that I didn't want to go unless you were there. That was me. We didn't get a chance to see it that night and left Branson before showtime on Thursday. We will be sure to go on our next trip.

Ps. If I'd known it was near your birthday, I would have given you a big birthday hug.

Mookie

Having grown up on the Arkansas/Missouri state line, all I can say is that Homer is absolutely correct. My family always visited SDC on Sunday, even if it was convenient to visit on a weekday. SDC on Sunday is probably a local best-kept-secret.

Once you arrive, the parking lots may seem as full as they would any other day, but as you ride the tram to the gate, you’ll notice one thing conspicuously absent - NO BUSSES!!

Since as far back as I can remember visiting SDC, there were never any busses there on Sunday. I don’t know, but I think that Sunday is a sort-of transition day in Branson; most folks are either just getting into or just leaving town on Sunday. Others more familiar may be able to expound on my theory.

You may still have to wait in line for Buckshot Annie’s succotash, but it’s always worth it.

Parking lot opening time?

What time do the parking lots open on Sundays? I'd like to get be at the gates as soon as they open, and we don't mind waiting in the parking lot a little while beforehand. But I don't know how early we can get there to park. Also, is parking still free unless you want "super-cool-rock-star parking"?

You can get there early & wait in your car or by the ticket booths but, they don't open the 'square area' until 8:00 AM. It's always good to see you at SDC too! Always, Terry 'Homer Lee' Sanders

We are going to try Sunday and Monday in the middle of May. I am hoping they won't be very busy so we can hit the rides a couple of times and see the Saloon Show. We always go down on a Thursday - Friday and it is always very busy.

We are going May 13th - the 15th. That's only time we could get down for Bluegrass and BBQ Festival. Thought we would just give it a try. Thanks !

We were there this past Sunday. Park opened at 10:00. We got there around 9:30 and there was a line for the tram at parking lot C. The crowds weren't bad at all though inside the park until after lunch. We went straight to the Grand Exposition with our 3 year old and she rode the rides over and over without a problem.

We did notice that there were pretty many buses in the parking lot when we left though (which was about 3:30).
