Thumbs up REVIEW: Yakov Smirnoff

On this trip...we got a chance to see Yakov Smirnoff for the first time. It was great...he is so funny, we both laughed until we hurt. He definitely knows how to work the crowd..and a huge crowd it was..almost full with folks of all ages. Being that it was our first time...we were pleasantly surprised at his show...especially when he talks of his coming to American. He is truly a very patriotic person, and one can just feel his sense of pride when he speaks of coming to this country and being made a citizen. He is very entertaining, and seems to so enjoy making folks laugh. As for his sidekick, "Slim Chance"...oh my, what an entertainer he also is! We hated that we had passed this show up before, but we will be seeing it again...it is a wonderful show.

We couldn't agree more! It's a wonderful show. Slim Chance is really funny, too. We first saw him when he was at Country Tonite, many years ago.

Smile Put Yakov on your Show Agenda!

We've never been to Branson before and were pleasantly surprised. We really didn't know what shows to see and thought a comedy show would be good for something different. Yakov was absolutely fantastic! The Russian dancers and Slim Chance. . HE MADE THE SHOW : ) You are right about his patriotism showing through and he had a great story about the painting he did after 911. I highly recommend the show as one of your selections on your next visit to Branson!

Question

Are the Russian Dancers from Russia, or are they from Jersey?

If I'm not mistaken...he said that he brought them here from Russia to be in his shows. Jersey may be their home-base now...but in his show, he said that a promise that he made to himself when he first got his show together was that when he was financially able, he would bring dancers from Russia to share with American audiances.

He has a great show, and we watch it each year. I also received a gift certificate for MM. That made the show even better.

We saw his show last Sat. morning and thought it was good. I was surprised to learn that he is such a great artist. We also liked Slim Chance but we can't remember who he sounds like. Any one know? At the end when "sissy dog" was given the gift certificate to Montana Mike's or McFarlands I thought oh no, we thought the food was terrible at both places when we visited this year.

We have always had good food and service at Montana Mike's...and I was thrilled that my "sissydog" got the gift certificate...

That might be it. Dh and I both thought the voice sounded familiar but couldn't place it.

jakwi and PatiCake I'm glad you had good experiences at MM but we sure didn't. Maybe it was an off night or something. I'm sure Yakov wouldn't keep giving away gift certificates to a place unless he thought it was very good.
