Yikes, the hammer is coming down on some big names.....and should be. Money and corruption/fraud. Where have we heard that before? Hope the law comes down hard.

some of the college coaches involved.

http://www.espn.com/college-sports/s...hool-admission

the list right now, don't know if this is it or there will be others added, but for now it seems to be things like womens soccer, sailing, water polo. one womens soccer coach received 400,000.00 to claim a student was a recruit even thought student never played soccer.

With that kind of money...up to SIX MILLIONS BUCKS....better to just buy the kid some real estate, mutual funds, and such investments, send Jr or Muffy to a community college for 2 years for a business/accounting degree....they will be much further ahead in life after 20 years than obtaining some highbrow sham college degree....

Agree 100%, but then they could not put an ivy league name behind their name to continue to scam there way through life. Who cares whether they learned anything.

watching news reports of this last night I was struck by one thing... this has to be one of the dumbest scams ever.

even though your daughter has never rowed a boat in her life give me a million dollars and I will get her on the USC rowing team. at some point you have to know someone is going to look at the records and say who is this jane doe and why isn't she ever at practice. stupid.

what happens to the kid down the road when they apply for a job and the interviewer says our background check shows you played soccer at Yale.

Well connected is well connected. I am sure some employers unfortunately don't care as long as the ivy league is on the resume. We hire only the best and the brightest......at least on paper.

I think about the kid who actually took the SAT exam and made a good score, but not as good as the rich child whose parents paid to have her scores altered.
This is not a victimless crime.

Absolutely it is not a victimless crime. Big opportunities lost for the ones that got left behind, because the cheats leapfrog ahead.

There are more victims than we will ever know.

How very, very horrible that people think because of their money and their name they can do whatever they want in this life, no matter who gets hurt in the shuffle. I am hoping they get the maximum penalty.

I feel sorry for the rowing and women's soccer teams losing all these recruits
