Bakker starts new tele-ministry in Branson

12/16/02 - BRANSON, Mo. -- Jim Bakker has found forgiveness and he says he's found a new home here in the Ozarks. The televangelist plans to broadcast a nation-wide ministry from here -- going back to his television roots and preaching the gospel of a second chance.

"The hardest person for me to forgive is Jim Bakker," he said in an interview. "God has given us the opportunity to do something I never dreamed I'd do again."
In about two weeks, Bakker will be back in a familiar place, in front of a camera preaching to people around the country. For now he is preaching to a local audience of people from around the Ozarks who've come to Branson to study and pray with him.
They gather in the Studio City Cafe, a restaurant and television studio in one. From here, he'll broadcast his new ministry.
"In the past, we have people following our ministry and I want people to follow Jesus Christ, not follow me," Bakker said.

Thanks for posting Jim Bakker information. I hadn't heard he was going to be preaching in Branson. I will be looking forward to seeing him there in August of 2003.

But can he make it without Tammy Fae? Those eye lashes? those luscious lips? the tears?

I think you'll enjoy it. I've been going to the Sunday Bible Study and really been blessed.

I know that he and Tammy Fae started their ministry in International Falls, Minnesota many years ago. Some really strange people have come from that place.

I've heard that during their Ice Box Days celebration up there, they have outdoor bowling, rolling frozen poultry at the pins, all in subzero temps. Do you have any fond memories of anything like that?

Wow...they are very strong people...I know I have an Uncle who was from Iowa..not far below the Minn line...when he was a young guy, they had a Polar Bear Club.......ran naked into some lake or pond...on what they thought was the coldest day of the year.....then...if that WASNT the coldest day...they had to go again.......on each colder day...

He said that that group of Iowans and their brother club in North Dakota...were the toughest sons of guns in the the whole US of A.

What a great bunch of guys.....of course they all moved to California, where we all lived...and bragged when the sun shone in December like June in the Mid west.

I tell ya..that was one great bunch of folks...with great stories, and great big ol hearts.

I guess those were the days of fun.......the good ol days, as my Grandpa called them...)))))))))

What a coincidence! I live in Iowa, just across the line and we still jump in a lake near here naked on the coldest day of the year. I have been doing this all my life! You don't suppose . . . could it be? . . . o my god . . . WE ARE RELATED!!!
