I just finished reading "Mapping the Deep" which is a history of ocean exploration. Sounds awful, but it's written for non-scientists and is well-done, and I'm an ocean junkie!

Now, I'm reading the Harry Potter finale for the 3rd time. Love catching things in it that I hadn't noticed before.

Next in line is Contact. I saw the film but an in-law told me the book is much better.

I am reading the neatest book about growing up in St. Louis in the 40's and 50's - it's a mix of music, gangsters, the S.S. Admiral, Route 66, Chain of Rocks, baseball...and I'm only about 50 pages into it. It's called "The Big Book of St. Louis Nostalgia" by Bill Nunes with David Lossos & Lonnie Tettaton. I wasn't around for the 40's but I do remember the 50's.

You guys should read the Love Comes Softly Series. There are eight books total in the series. They are by Janette Oke. They are good books about a pioneer family.

Just finished All the Gold in California" by Larry Gatlin (for the 3rd time--sometimes it pays to have a rotten memory)

Just got back from a beach vacation so I did a lot of reading (no computer for over a week): David Baldacci's "The Winner" (great read), "Hannibal" by Thomas Harris (a follow up to "Silence of the Lambs", very good), and these 4 from the Reader's Digest condensed versions, "The Forever Year" by Ronald Anthony (okay), T. Jefferson Parker's "Cold Pursuit" (very good), "Lover's Lane" by Jill Marie Landis (okay), and "Temporary Sanity" by Rose Connors (good).

I just got a copy of Barbara Walters autobiograpy.

Understand that she "tells all" in the book.

I don't have much time for reading with everything I've got going on but am going to try to read this book--maybe driving back and forth to Branson. I should add that I am the passenger on those trips. Bet that just scared the whatever out of drivers on Hwy 71, 7 and 65.

I love an autobiograpy or biograpy that is about someone still in the headlines.

Janette Oke books are the first Christian Fiction books that I ever read. I love her books.

Mellie,
You should try Karen Kingsbury she is a great Christian author. I just started reading her books and I am so hooked. I also love Jenette Oke.

I just started reading Denise Jackson's book about Alan I think its called Its all about him. So far I really like it.

I agree Mandy

Karen Kingsbury is an excellent Christian fiction author. I'm always disappointed to reach the end of one of her books.
