there's a story somewhere floating around the internet from a press event that SDC hosted about a month ago that says at that time they were saying it should open March 05

Wouldn't the ride open the same day SDC opens for the season, which is March 17? Might the March 5 date be their projected date of completion?

I sent an email to SDC and asked if it would be open by the March 17th opening date. The response I got was that if the weather doesn't cause any problems that it would be open by that date.

Oops... My bad. It did confuse me; I'm used to seeing an apostrophe tacked on at the beginning of an abbreviated year.

Thanks, JD, for contacting SDC about it.

I'm really excited about March. I'm going into a job interview tomorrow, and my sister--who already works at that place--seems to think I'll make it. So, I'll be able to save up money to take a trip to SDC/Branson during my Spring break for the opening of SDC.

Woohoo! I got the job!

"So, Joy, what do you plan to do now that you've got a job?"

"I'm going to the City!"

There's been a Powderkeg update on Midwest Info Guide!

I sure hope I'll be able to go to SDC for spring break; I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the time off (seeing as how I just got the job...).

If SDC opens at 10 a.m., would you think it would be safe to drop off two 14 year old girls a little before that? If not, we'll have to cancel our Clay Cooper tickets, since his show starts at 10 also. Didn't realize the conflict when making reservations for the show.

You know the girls, do you feel safe doing that? I know I would because I trust my kids. Everytime I have went to SDC there have been people there before it opens, waiting on it to open, so I dont see why not. Just use your best judgement.

Well, I would trust the girls. Just wondered if there would be a lot of people waiting. Wouldn't want them there alone, even though my granddaughter does have a black belt in Karate.

Engel, anytime that we've gotten there early, there are lots of people waiting, and that includes lots of adults, and park employess, so I would think that they would be very safe.

A 14 year old that bowed up and started with Karate on me would scare the liver out of me!!

I think they let people into the park at 9:30... the cloggers are usually performing then in the summer (if not a little earlier) and then they have the opening ceremony that starts about quarter till. Also, they serve breakfast at the restaurant just inside the park.

So yes, if you're comfortable doing it, the girls can definitely get into the park by at least 9:30, if not earlier.

And a question related to the earlier topic... did anyone see a recent April 8 date for the opening of Powder Keg? We're going Easter weekend and my dh is pouting because I read somewhere that it won't be open until April. (Not like we're going back in June or anything...)
