Our Christmas Open House

I want to share with all of you about our Christmas Open House.
I worked from 2 days after Thanksgivng getting out all my decorations and putting them up. Eldon had a 4 day weekend so I had him to help me.
Cards and invitations went out about Dec 2. Then the week of the 7th I made cookies. On Sat we went to a local Church (not our Church) they have a Christmas candy and bake sale each year. Im not good at candy making at all so this came in handy the day before to get some fudge and stuff.
Then Sunday the 13th was here. I also fixed Chili and potato soup, Wassel, and punch.
All my family my folks, sister and her family, 3 couples from our Church, and other neighbors and friends arrived.

I had invited one family whos daughter/sister had lived in our house before us. She passed away at the age of 50 shortly after listing this house and moving to her new home. They seemed so happy to be able to join us. "We have wonderful Christmas memories in this house" one of the sisters told me. I think it was somewhat emotional for them but they thanked me over and over for inviting them. "Angela would be pleased" her mother told me. I felt good about it. Everyone seemed to have a good time. It it was worth the work to get ready. Wish all of you could have been with us too.

So now what do all of you do in your homes?

That is such a nice idea...to invite the previous owner's family.
Your Open House sounds very festive.

Talking

Sounds like a wonderful time. And you sound very very ambitious.

We don't do that anymore...the kids pile in on Christmas eve...first one in gets the couch..the rest get something to eat and something to drink, and then then all flop on the floor, and we sing Roy Orbison's song, ''It's OVER''...

Know the house was beautiful and everybody had a great time.

Sorry we couldn't make it but, as I told you, we were in Branson and wasn't going to leave until late. Well, Ted got a call and had to get back to work so we left a little earleir than planned but he had to go straight to work so I had the van to unload.

Looking forward to seeing you after the first of the year.

Know everybody had a great time. We will be there next year.

Oh Thank you, how nice of you to say that. I really missed getting to do the Open house last year, I just was not up to it after surgery.

It's so nice to have friends over this time of year!

We usually have a party, not this year. I'm still tired from our
Anniversary Party!!!
...didn't even decorate as much as we usually do & none in the front yard!
We know, shame on us!!!
Some years we have a pre New Year Party, not sure about this year
as we've not discussed it, YET!
We enjoy having people over & I'm sure you had a good time from
putting out the first decoration 'til the last friend left & you cleaned up.
THANKS for sharing you event with us!
