The rains look to extend all the way south of Dallas up to Branson. So its on the way. We just had some huge rains and flooding is occurring here now.

I think getting out of the low areas is a good idea ahead of time just in case.
Beaver sounds iffy already and more on the way. Sad sad times for those impacted.

30APR2017 0700 928.44
30APR2017 0800 928.79

a foot every 2 1/2 - 3 hours

Beaver is over floodstage (1130), and they are beginning to let some into TRL. The 946 is TRL under the Beaver dam.

30APR2017 0800 1130.91 946.00 4006

946 at the upper end and 928 at the dam!!!!!!

James: 74400 cfs . . . almost 20 feet over flood stage

Kings: 35700 cfs

6"-8" Fayetteville to Springfield, Mountain Home to near Rolla, Clinton to Rolla

Some 10" near West Plains

3"-5" EVERYWHERE else

Another little batch coming shortly.

Flooding widespread . . . DW just showed me Dogwood Canyon. I heard one of the trolleys floated away and hit/damaged the 86 HWY bridge, so 86 is closed.

Dogter is happy to be out of the bathtub, where she was all day yesterday.

From Brandon Beck, Meteorologist for KY3.

"Table Rock Lake has risen almost nine feet in the last 24 hours. It is hours away from hitting top of flood pool (931')."

As reported way up yonder somewhere, Bull Shoals had a huge cushion, the only one of the three that did.

It has come up 10' m/l,

28APR2017 2200 665.74
30APR2017 0900 675.21

Top Flood Pool: 695.0

reducing that cushion from 30 feet to 20 feet. So, in two or three days, it will be at flood stage. (All three will be)

More rain coming.

From the above facts as listed it appears that TRL has about 7 feet of room before overtopping the gates?

Is that correct?

And has at least 125,000 coming in the James and King?

I was there for the last huge releases and it was terrible at 100,000.

My concern is that there is no way TRL can hold this water and in fact the emergency spillway will have to be opened? This is unbelievable. I loved The Landing when I lived there just for the walks and atmosphere etc.

Here in Texas same thing going on as lakes are full and this will be a huge flood event.

5 killed in tornado about 30 miles away from me last night.

After the first flood in 09 I wanted to rehab a house down on the river below TRD. Of course it flooded again and was glad I did not. They tore it down finally but still I looked at property there to rehab. Divorce took that option out but here we are again looking at flooding below the dam. So thankful I did not do that yet so sorry that so many are suffering such huge losses.

West Plains looks very bad to the east of Branson too. Town is under water.

Our need to build along the rivers back in the 1800's has caused untold misery to later generations.

Beaver Lake Releases Sunday Morning

http://www.ky3.com/content/news/Corp...420841073.html

ROGERS, Ark. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began a spillway release Sunday morning from Beaver Dam.

The seven spillway gates have been opened six-foot releasing 55,000 cubic feet per second. The lake is forecasted crest at 1,131.5 feet above sea level. Future rainfall may cause the Corps to adjust releases at Beaver Lake.

That will force Table Rock Dam to release anywhere from 40,000-60,000 cubic feet per second.

936 is the magic number. From our 2008, 2011, and 2015 episodes, we learned that at that level the catwalk to open the gates is under water. So, it's that catwalk that is the bugaboo.

The emergency spillway would be used to keep it from that level.

It looks like the Beaver release started at 2:00 yesterday after noon and the last two hours is the first it has not gone up:

30APR2017 0900 1131.08
30APR2017 1000 1131.08

The City of Branson is seeking able bodied volunteers to help with sand bags... filling and stacking.
Volunteers should report to the Branson Community Center on Compton Drive.
Volunteers may report anytime after 10:15.

Chief Martin

UPDATE: Bring shovels! Report to Alderwoman Cris Bohinc at Branson Community Center.

NWS Springfield

.LONG TERM...(Monday through Saturday)
Issued at 129 AM CDT Sun Apr 30 2017

The next shortwave riding through a northwesterly flow aloft will
arrive Tuesday night and Wednesday. This system will interact with
front stalled just to our south to bring another round of rain and
some thunder. Rainfall amounts of one to two inches may occur
Tuesday night and Wednesday.

At this point does it really make any difference? Everything is just going to be full longer.

That is an amazing amount of water and rise considering every foot up spreads out over more and more land.

100,000 cfs is 18 acres a foot deep per minute. That is crazy numbers. Thanks for the updates.

Is the James and King dropping or maintaining their flows.

The video from Powersite you could see it increase as it ran. That was a huge WOW for any engineer.

James: 83700 cfs (increasing)

Kings: 30000 cfs (decreasing)

As if we didn't need another complication, now it is windy.

A lot of docks are unacessible, and were left with loose cables, to keep them from breaking as the water rises more. So, now they are swinging back and forth, with tremendous pressure on cables.

Dockwise, I have no idea what they do with them on Taneycomo, with all that current, when it gets like this.

They are mostly designed for strong current. Heavier, and more numerous cables. Plus most of the docks are not in shallow water coves where they need to be drawn in and out with rise and fall. A lot of them are using steel framed "swing arms", for the lack of a better name. Connected to a heavy concrete anchor post with a large pivot pin. They still have twisted, came apart, and broke loose. Was it 2008, or 2011 that Bas Pro's dock broke loose, and was finally stopped way down lake? I think the same year Fall Creek Marina lost their dock. Broke up, and drifted away. Some of it was behind Monkey Island for some time.
Guess we're gonna find out. Just heard they pulled the stopper out. 50,000 cfs heading for the Landing.
