Around town 4/10 - 4/12

Was in town for a brief stay, mainly to go to Festival of Wonder at SDC. Here's some observations around town:

1st Inn, located next to Cakes N Creams and the closed mini-golf course, is now a Baymont Inn. The sign in front of the Outback says New Owners. Looked like some construction was happening outside of Splash Country. Fencing is up around the old Grand Palace, and the Grand Palace sign is gone. Can see construction progress at the Wonderworks (old Baldknobber Theater site) and the former Starlite. Huge for sale banner at the old RFD Theater. Construction is still going on at Shepherd of the Hills.

Progress continues on the new Chamber of Commerce building at the entrance to Branson Meadows. Made in the USA has relocated to another space at Branson Meadows. Direct Tools has also opened.

Speaking of Tanger there is more construction going on. The entrance by the Loft Outlet is closed with the driveway torn up so you can't enter the parking lot, the auxiliary parking lot, or access the parking spaces in the back of the outlet stores. Gymboree is going out of business because the whole chain filed for bankruptcy. Skechers is being remodeled so that's why there are 2 locations on the map. The small store by Bath and Body Works is the temporary location.

By Billy Gails there was a bulldozer that had cleared off some space, maybe for more parking. Noticed there were several no parking signs along the shoulder of the road in front of Billy Gails.

According to the review in the Branson Register, Pierce Arrow has had some changes. The new show is called Pierce Arrow Gold with country, classic rock, gospel, and patriotic songs. The other show is Pierce Arrow Decades with hits from the 50s - 80s. Chad Ruden is the new lead singer. Now Anthony Walker is playing drums and David Bird is playing bass guitar.

Redbuds were beautiful around Branson particularly on 265 from 76 to the Chateau and continuing on 165 across the dam on to Hollister. Dogwoods were starting to bloom, too.

Thanks so much BC for all the updates.

I was in town this past weekend but had a couple of meetings so didn't get to see many of the things you shared with us. Some of them were sort of expected and some of them were very much a surprise. I did notice a lot of changes going on in Branson, more than I usually see at any one time.

Hope these moves are all positive ones for Branson.

Was glad to see that my two favorite (never to be missed) Branson spots, Grand Country Music Hall and Branson Center Stage were still going strong.
