Holiday Traffic at SDC

Mellie commented on seeing cars parked along Hwy 76 and people being bussed into SDC. I haven't seen any posts about SDC this past week end; maybe there were some and I missed them. Any of the Branson Buddies at SDC this past week end? If so, how were the crowds???? Just curious!

We steered clear! Some friends from work went and said it wasn't too bad. The Landing was PACKED and CC wasn't too bad.

We went Friday aftenoon. Nice crowd but not packed. Ride lines didn't seem too long. Went to see 2 of the guest musical groups; both theaters were filled.

We went Saturday, got there when the park opened and stayed until about 4:30. There seemed to be a big crowd, but our longest wait was only about 15 minutes, most of the rides were walk up and ride. It was great. Perfect weather, we had a blast. Went to WW on Sunday, and again looked to be a huge crowd, but very little wait time for the slides. I was so worried going on Labor Day Weekend, but it turned out great. We steered clear of the strip in the evenings, because traffic was awful, but I hear thats pretty normal?

We were at SCD on Saturday most of the day and it seemed pretty normal for Saturday. Went back on Sunday and holy cow! The crowd was huge, the lines were long, so we bailed out after about 3 hours. It was a good weekend all in all.

On Sunday morning, of Labor Day weekend, we went in to Branson (we stayed on Indian Point) to hit the outlet malls and came back around 11:30am because we rented at boat at the Indian Point Marina for 12:30pm. It took us almost 40 minutes to get from 76 at Ozark Mountain High Road to our condo because of Silver Dollar City traffic.

That was really the only time we had a problem with traffic. And we still made our boat ressie in plenty of time. But man was the lake crowded!

We were there on Sunday and Monday. \

Sunday, when you saw them being bussed, we thought "oh no, it is going to be packed". Well, we went to payed parking and no on was even in parking lot A or the one to the left of the main road. It was like they anticipate a big crowd and start parking the farthest away. It is like you are penalized for getting there early. This is not the first time I have had a complaint about this. If they were parking in A, then we would not have paid, but I did not want to ride a school bus from Notch.

On Saturday they didn't do this.

We went to gospel shows, but 13 year old got right on all of the rides. He road the coasters back to back several times with no wait. The only thing that had a line was the river raft ride. It was lined all the way back to the very entrance. No thank you.

It was on Saturday also. We went on Saturday and I parked in 76 free parking and rode a bus. Sunday I parked in Lot C, but there were twice the people Sunday it seemed.

We were there Friday and it wasn't crowded at all. It was a nice day there. When we went up to pay, the lady said it will be mainly older folks there to see shows that day. We had a nice time.

We went Sat & Sun morning. Sat they had the guys on Hwy 76 but they were not directing at the time towards Notch. On Sun they were directing towards Notch and filling school buses which delighted my grands. When we bussed in from Notch, we noticed they were then directing down IP to the closer parking. Until the construction is completed they will probably have to continue to use the overflow parking areas. I'm sure they hate using them as much as we do.

Crowds were like a normal busy weekend. We left mid afternoon for 2 & 4 yr old and grandpa's nap time. Both afternoons, people were still pouring in. Lines for the major entertainers were long so we missed those shows. The grands kept us running doing pre-school fun. I've got some photos to post. I'll try to get to it over the weekend.

My only gripe about SDC is the handicapped parking situation. The handicap spots near the gate fill up quickly, so they steer you to C lot. A lot of handicap people have wheelchairs, scooters, etc. that are not meant to be lifted onto a tram. If the handicap spots are full, why not let these people start filling the valet parking spaces? Yeah, they might lose $20 a parking space, but it sure would make life easier for those that could use a little "easy" in their life.
