Update - The Sequal 2

My interview went really well, I felt. The benefits, etc. are great. The only downside that I can see, bearing in mind that I haven't been offered the job yet, is the schedule. I would be working Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 3 - 11 PM & Friday & Saturday 11 PM - 7 AM. It would not leave a lot of time for my family or kid's activities. We have faced some tremendous challenges as a family over the past couple of years, & we have met them together. I have always placed God, family & country above everything else. As I've said in the past, we are not on a particular time frame. I may not even be offered the job. We all still want to make the area our permanent home. We have a lot to consider. Thanks again to everyone for all of the interest & support.

Waterboy - you and your family are in my prayers for your job/move.

On the schedule - That doesn't sound TOO bad .. kind flip floppin' around - BUT if you can get on a decent sleeping schedule - you'll have SOME time .. Plus as least you'd have Sunday/Monday off .. I remember the days when I longed for a "normal" schedule - but it always worked out - and "graveyard" for me was GREAT ... once I figured out how to handle the kids.. laugh .. Sometimes the family had to make adjustments too - get up earlier .. to bed earlier .. everyone pulled together for us to make time to be together..

Praying for His best for you!

Pam

Son of Update

As it turns out, the City decided to go with another candidate, which is OK as I wasn't sure about the schedule. We all feel that if it's meant to be, then it's meant to be. We are looking at this long term. We know that when the time is right in God's time, then things will fall into place. In the meantime, I'll keep looking. You'll keep hearing from me, I'm not going away! Thanks again to everyone.

I'm Back!!!

Hi everybody! It's been awhile. Just a quick update - I recently applied to the City of Branson for another opening, a Project Manager in the City Engineer's office, which would be the next step up from my present job as an Inspector. I am following up on a regular basis & hope to be called for a interview soon. I have got my fingers crossed! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Fingers Crossed!

Well, the last one didn't work out, but I have an interview with the City of Branson on 3/16 for a lead position in wastewater collections. I'll be leaving from work again & driving down the night before & getting a motel room. Wish me luck.

I may be putting the cart before the horse, but if this does work out, does anyone have any suggestions on clean reasonable temporary housing?

Good news & bad news

So we made it down to Branson for my interview ( my daughters were on spring break so they & my wife came along ). The family went to College of the Ozarks while I had my interview, which I thought went well. Last Monday afternoon, I got a call from the city saying they have not made a final decision, I was still being considered but they had decided to repost the position to see if there is any further interest. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I guess if it's meant to be, it will be. We all know that the timing is not in our hands. We will end up living down there someday when the time is right.

Sounds like maybe they were impressed with your interview but didn't get as many applicants as they had hoped to get to make sure they had a good field for their final selection.

Hoping you hear from them and you get the job. From what you have written, sounds to me like you and your family would be great additions to the Branson scene.

branson job

branson has a strange person who does the hiring for a lot of the jobs. i had a relative apply for a job there a year or so ago. he was well qualified for the position and was asked to come in for an interview. he was there on time after lunch. the person who was to interview him came in with a grouchy disposition looked llike he had a pickle sandwich for lunch gave my relative a few minutes and that was the end in the interview. no job offer.
