Talking Blueberries at Persimmon Hill Farm

Ah yes summer is almost here. One of my favorite summer activities is picking blueberries at Persimmon Hill Farm, and purchasing one of there awesome Blueberry Thunder Muffins. They also have a great product line of gourmet jams, gourmet syrups, barbecue sauces, shiitake mushrooms, and other gourmet foods.

You can grab a bucket and pick your own berries or purchase already picked blueberries. It is a very large farm with many rows and varieties of blueberries. The season usually starts sometime the beginning to middle part of May and last several weeks. You will want to call to see if they are picking before heading out. Blueberry prices vary by market but in the past the prices are about $2.65 a pound.

It is about a 45 minute drive Branson, but it is a very beautiful drive. They also have raspberries and other wonderful produce available the rest of the year.

I am making homemade blueberry muffins this afternoon, YUM!

Fresh berries, but I didn't pick them, bought them at the store (so not as fresh as picking them myself, but better than frozen!)

Blueberries are Ready

The berries are ready!! Cost around $2.50 to $2.60 per pound if you pick them. Slightly more if you purchase already picked. My dad picked 18 pounds the other day. They tasted awesome....

They open at 7:00 am during the week. Noon on Sunday.

We LOVE blueberries! How long does the season usually last??? We may get a chance to do some picking the end of June.

Season usually lasts 4-6 weeks. Depends sometimes on the weather we have had in the spring. We had a bad frost last year and so the season was shortened. I would call and check with them.
