Tour buses

We plan to visit Branson in late Sept or early October. We'd really like to beat the tour buses because we've been during tour season before and it's hard to get into restaurants and hotels. When do the tours usually start? Thanks.

The bulk of the tour bus season starts mid-September and runs through early December.

While still around, I haven't noticed the large number of tour busses in the past several years. Nothing like the "hayday" of the 90's. Economy, fuel prices, or just a reduced interest in Branson? Who knows.

I’ve been going to Branson for years and I can think of only one time where I ate at a restaurant that was pretty much taken over by a tour group. So, I think it basically depends on the restaurant whether you have trouble getting in because of a tour bus group. Maybe it’s because I rarely do a buffet, but there are plenty of Branson restaurants that don’t necessarily cater to a tour bus group.

Or do what most thinking people do in ANY tourist town, at popular restaurants...do NOT eat when everyone else does! Go to breakfast early, 6-7am..go to lunch EARLY, say 10:45, so you are seated and ready to order by 11am, when most places start serving lunch...go to dinner EARLY, before 5pm...in other words, to beat the long lines and wait times, you gotta escape the "herd mentality"....
