Illusionist Rick Thomas at Moon River Theater

There's a new magic/illusion show in Branson featuring Rick Thomas at Moon River Theater. He has appeared in Vegas as well as in Europe and other venues. More details from this article in Branson Tri-Lakes News:

From what I've read on other threads he must be pretty good. I think he's been making Kirby disappear!

I was at the show opening night and was thoroughly impressed. And believe me, the last kind of show I usually want to attend is any sort of magic/illusion show. Mainly because I've seen so many of them, and some repeatedly, that it just holds no appeal to me. I've figured most of it out by now. But I was very pleasantly surprised at just how enjoyable Rick Thomas was!! Even with just 3 days rehearsal, it was top-notch! They have several times they have someone from the audience participate, which was always good. Outside of a few technical glitches with sound and props not being where they should have been when they should have been there, it was a flawless performance! I will not hesitate to return and have already recommended him to others. I was talking with a friend who moved her a few years ago from Vegas. She said her husband had seen the show a few times in Vegas and was impressed as well.

Great Show!

You can add me to the "I'm impressed" list.
We saw the show the other night and both found it to be very enjoyable and outright fun.
When watching the illusions, there were times when I thought I knew exactly what was coming next--then boom, a surprise ending.
He involves lots of audience members, including the kids, in a fun and funny way--feel free to volunteer.
It's a great magic show and one that I'd gladly see again. It was pretty clear that the bulk of the audience loved him too, with the show ending with a standing "O."
Rick mentioned that he would like to stay in Branson, and Branson surely needs this new show. Hopefully he will get the marketing and other support to make the show a great success.
The only downer of the evening was the theatre. As mentioned elsewhere, 90% of the artwork and other wall decor are gone. I sure hope that Jimmy Ozmond has a few decorator bones in his body and some bucks in the budget to brighten up the place a bit in the future. It's a shame to see that beautiful structure looking so drab on the inside.

Glad you enjoyed the show DD!! I understand he will be tweaking the show along the way, adding some different illusions.

I will pass along your comments about the condition of the theater. I think the Williams family probably pulled out a lot of Andy's things. I know in the lobby, they have begun redoing things with various pottery items and such. I suspect it will be an ongoing process.

I saw the show on Friday night and was very impressed with the show. One of the best magic shows I have ever seen. The final illusion was the best. ( I am not going to give away anything, you'll have to see the show for yourself.) Excellent audience interaction. Several times I thought, "I have no idea how they did that." I guess that is the marked of a great magician. The show should do well in Branson this year.

One segment he talks about the tigers he used to have in his show. It would have been great to have them in the show. The tigers are now on private reserve off Route 66 near the Grand Canyon. They are able to run free and enjoy the rest of their life.

Tara his assistant is very talented as well.

I agree, the last illusion was the best, absolutely mind blowing.
I should have mentioned also, that at the Saturday show he had 3 dancers (besides his assistant,) who did a couple of dance numbers along with helping with the magic...Happy everything.

Just "home" from the show! I don't think I've ever been to a live magic or illusion show; so this offered a good change of pace from the type shows I normally select to see. While it may not be the type show I'd repeat often, it was really quite good! In tonight's show, Rick performed with his assistant Tara (who is from Zimbabwe) and 2 other female dancers/assistants, and 2 male dancer/assistants.

I don't know how he did any of the tricks & illusions; so that last one really blew me away! I considered the show well worth my time to attend. I got my ticket for half price at 2 for 1.

We saw this show tonight. Very impressive and enjoyable. Have an idea we will be returning as I think this is a show the grandsons will enjoy (they have both *dropped hints* about their trip to Branson with us this summer!'

At the show I attended, he said she interviewed for the position about 3 years ago.

Oh my-----I thought he said 30 years ago! Bill said 'no way!' And I didn't think she looked that old! Guess I 'lost' this 'debate'! Lol
