Shepherd of the Hills Fire!

Around 7:30pm tonight I heard on the radio that Aunt Molly's Restuarant at Shepherd of the Hills was on fire and several units were called to fight the blaze. About an hour ago I was at the grocery store and ran into a woman who was buying apples and bananas for approximately 50 firefighters. She was a fireman's wife. She told me that the fire had taken out the gift shop, ticket office and restuarant and was still very intense. I believe she said that 23 units had been called out, but I may have misunderstood her. When we left the grocery store, we decided to drive out in front of The Grand Mansion and see if we could see anything. We didn't want to get in the way and figured we might be able to see something. It saddens me to say we did. The horizon was a yellowish-orange glow and there was a lot of smoke. We could even see the lights of the firetrucks. The fire is obviously, still very big if we could see it from the top of the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. I haven't heard anything on the radio lately and I missed the news. I've checked the Springfield Newsleader website and KY3, so far I've not heard anymore on the situation. I'll let you all know when I find out more.

Dear Branson Mom.....

I saw your post to my post re: this over in Misc. Info....I didnt know where to post it...I was just so upset.....I didnt even see yours right here.

I cant find anything on the websites....I posted KYTV's url...cause by morning they will have their site updated........they had Ellie Merritt on scene......and they had some amazing video...just such a big fire.....makes you worry about the firemen.

They interviewed the owner.....and they suggested that there will be a production on Friday nite......as the show arena is not harmed. But, this is a big loss to him and his family....apparently they ran all the concessions.....and now they dont have their jobs....they said it started...I think you mentioned that...in the restaurant....and spread so fast.

Oh me......just feel so sad about it...but grateful to God..that no one was physically hurt.

Ill look to your information.....thanksssssss Cheesecake

PS: Im editing here:.......From the Branson Internet News Online at http://bransondotcom.com/ there is a link to broadcast news here: http://100kwatts.tmi.net/tv/SGF.html ....... where there are links to all the news people in the area. One of them might have this by now...or by morning.

Shepherd of the Hills is resiliant -- I'm sure they will "rise from the ashes" much like the legendary Phoenix. So sad that it happened at the beginning of the season. But as stated in a prior post -- they rose back after the fire that destroyed props and costumes and I'm sure they'll come back from this as well. Just a shame, was a great little place to eat and always had the nicest gifts. We'll keep an eye on the board for updates on their proress.

Prayers are with all concerned. Hope no one was hurt and that all will be OK.

You're welcome. Apparently there were quite a few customers in the restaurant when the fire broke out, but everyone got out just fine. I believe that two firemen, had minor injuries (I think it was a sprained ankle and nail puncture wound in a hand).
