Question The old Cascades Inn

I keep forgetting to ask. When we were in town almost 3 weeks ago, going up SOH towards 76 I thought I saw some activity at Cascades. When going that direction it's hard to see up there so I wasn't sure exactly what I saw.

There has been a major remodel going on there for several months -- at least the outside is being remodeled. I haven't ever stayed there so don't know about the interior.

this place was always easy to forget about, kind of hidden up on a hill. I just did a search and found an old facebook post from 2017 that said because mom wants to retire the place was closing for good.

goes on to say it had been sold and would be remodeled into a La Quinta Inn.

We stayed there at least once a year from the early 1990's through about 2006 when our kids were young and we would bring them down every year. It was a good location, easy to get in and out of and to the back roads to stay off of 76.

Back then the rooms were clean, the pool was good and the breakfast was good. Sad to hear it had gone downhill and closed, but at least it will be reborn as a La Quinta

I know it's a little hard to see from the hwy but has anyone driven past it and noticed how far along the remodel is progressing? the only thing I found with a search of the place was that 2017 facebook post, if they were changing it over to a La Quinta looks like they would have had about enough time wouldn't they?

We stayed at the Cascades in the early to mid 2000's when it was a really nice place. Then we discovered the Savannah House which was less expensive.

I agree that if the Cascades was being converted to a corporate hotel it would have been done quickly and be finished long before now. I know I saw work trucks up there but didn't get a good look at what was going on. All I can say is something is going on.

We've been watching them work for the last year. They have gutted the entire building, added on to the breakfast room, and have totally redone the exterior. Last we heard was a mid March opening.

thanks for the report

I did a facebook search and found these videos that I believe are taken from the inside last summer

I don't understand whats being said but title says Cascade - La Quinta and it looks to be a complete overhaul as Hamners said.

The videos look to be a complete gut and remodel. Quite an extensive project!

no opening date but you can go to the La Quinta web site now and put in dates for later this summer where they are taking reservations.
