Exclamation Grand Country Music Hall

Branson Country USA - March 11, 2016

This week we welcome The Blackwoods, from the Starlite Theatre, and Gospel Recording Artist and JFK Historian, Beverly Oliver!

When it comes to musical groups with history and heritage, the famous Blackwood Singers are second to none, and the Starlite Theatre is proud to welcome them back to Branson! After 15 successful years in Pigeon Forge, The Blackwood's Morning Show will open at the Starlite Theatre and will feature their trademark harmonies, many of their huge hits, and lots of laughter and heartwarming stories from their 81 year musical history.

Led by husband-wife team R.W. and Donna Blackwood, The Blackwood Singers follow in the tradition of the nationally known Blackwood Brothers, who have been recognized with a long list of awards including 8 Grammys, 27 Dove Awards, 5 All American Music Awards, and the Publishers Choice Diamond Award.

The Blackwood's Morning Show is performed at 10:00 am featuring a very personal, up close experience that comes with a hot cup of coffee and a genuine smile! For more information and/or tickets, call the Starlite Theatre at 417-337-9333, or visit www.starlitetheatre.com.

We also welcome a special friend of Grand Country, Beverly Oliver!

She is a published author, lecturer, gospel singer and professional ventriloquist. Beverly was also a first hand witness to one of the darkest moments in American history, the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963. One of the enigmatic figures in Dealey Plaza that fateful November day was "The Babushka Lady," so named because she wore a scarf much like a Russian grandmother would wear. She was filming the motorcade, with an amateur movie camera. She can be seen clearly on the Zapruder film and also on various other movie films and still photographs taken in Dealey Plaza. She was one of the few witnesses to the Kennedy assassination who was not immediately identified - thus the rather odd nickname which she acquired due to the "babushka" or triangular headscarf which she was wearing that day.

In 1970 Beverly Oliver was accidentally discovered by researcher J. Gary Shaw. When confronted by Mr. Shaw, she finally had to admit she was the Babushka Lady, not ever wanting to be identified for personal reasons.

Beverly Oliver married mobster and leader of the Dixie Mafia, George McGann, in 1966. He was killed in a gangland slaying, being shot five times. A year and seven months later she married Evangelist Charles Massegee and ever since then they have traveled as a team singing and preaching the gospel of Christ around the world.

Beverly was a technical advisor for the 1991 JFK movie starring Kevin Costner. A small portion of this move is part of Beverly's amazing story. She is available with her power point presentation for lectures in High Schools, Universities, Libraries, and wherever people are interested in this unanswered side of American history. Her lecture is a tribute to JFK's legacy, dream for global peace, and belief that America owes its allegiance first and foremost to God. She is also the author of "Nightmare In Dallas", which shares her perspective of that fateful day in Dallas, and her testimony.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and committed her life to serve Him, and now since 1970, this trophy of God's saving love has been witnessing for Christ by music and personal testimony around the world. Her story will thrill you and strengthen your faith in the glorious truth that we are saved by grace through faith as a gift of God.

We're proud to have her join us and share a song for you this week.

Wow! These are the times that I wish I lived in Branson! It's not possible for me to come down there for this Friday night's BCUSA show, but it surely sounds like it's going to be an especially interesting one. I'd love to see it! In addition to listening to the podcast of it later on, I just might have to consider ordering the DVD.

I'm not sure if it's common knowledge, but you can order the DVD, quite reasonably, of any of the late night shows, and I occasionally do so.
