Question Kansas City

I may be going tot he KC Royals game this coming Saturday(4/6). I haven't been to KC since I was a youngster. What is the best part of town to stay in? Can anyone recommend a good cheap hotel/motel to stay in?
I figured this might be the best place to ask.
Thanks for the comments.

We have stayed in one of the hotels right by the staduim before. Can't remember the name but I got the link off the Royals page. Not super cheap but was nice being right there. Most of the time though we stay down in the Overland Park or Lenexa area.

When we went to Kansas City, we stayed at Comfort Inn Suites near the airport. It was a very nice hotel and it is located well North of downtown. If you want to be really close to Royals Stadium, I'd chose another hotel.
If you have time, visit Zona Rosa!!

Head east on I-70 towards Blue Springs. Several nice motels there and many restaurants to eat at.

There is a Drury Inn and Clarion Hotel across from the stadium as well as a Holiday Inn. I don't think any of them are too high priced. If you go out towards Independence/Blue Springs -- there are a lot of places including a Red Roof, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, etc.

So nice to read this! I finally managed to get us a room here the night before we fly to Disney. We are planning to visit Zona Rosa that afternoon.

You will love Zona Rosa. We call it the Country Club Plaza North! Very nice shops and layout! Great restaurants there as well. I'm partial to Ted's Montana Grill. Enjoy!

Another "see" that you might consider is the Legends Shopping Area at the Kansas Raceway.

Legends reminds me of the Branson Landing. Very nice though and some very nice stores. Plus they not only have Ted's Montana Grill - but they have Jimmy Buffet's Cheeseburger in Paradise -- Great food both places. and is right next to Nebraska Furniture Mart and Cabela's.

We're probably going to stop at Legends to see the T-Rex restaurant. Probably won't eat there, but just want to see the inside. My sister-in-law recommended a restaurant with a good menu and a bunch of video games. Seems like there was 2 male names in the restaurant's name...

The name of the place is Dave & Buster's I think. You'll have fun anywhere over there.

I would advise staying in either Lenexa or Overland Park, near the I-435 corridor, that way you are within 20 minutes of everything that was listed above. I'm not sure if you are interested in history, but the Liberty Memorial is open again along with a bigger and better Museum. Union Station is having an exhibit of The Dead Sea Scrolls, which I believe is running through May.

Red face Thanks...

for all the replies, but there has been a change in plans. We decided to go to Branson instead. We wanted to go to the World Fest at SDC. It's the only festival that we haven't been to.
Again, thanks for all the replies. We'll probably go to KC later in the year.

It is whatever used to be the Adams Mark I think. When I first posted this we didn't have any plans to go but now DH has decided he wants to go to a Royals game over Memorial weekend and go to the zoo. So now I am researching hotels again in the area. It will be 3 weekends in a row staying in a hotel for us because we will be in Branson the week before.
