Bacon Prices?

Do you think, with the distruction of the Hog Farms in N.C by Florence, that Bacon will be in short supply?
And scarcity might be higher prices?

Well, since the United States is the worlds largest pork exporter, I would not think it will have any effect, based on REALITY of supply and demand. However, the PTB historically have used any excuse as a "reason" to raise prices to the American consumer. The US exports around 5 BILLION pounds of pork yearly...so with the current DC Executive Administration having an "America First" philosophy, I would hope that if the pork industry market pricing "manipulators" attempted to jack up the prices of DOMESTIC bacon, that President Trump would simply turn off the supply of EXPORTED bacon to Mexico, Japan, and other FOREIGN country's, until the AMERICAN people's appetite was satisfied!

That was my thought, also.
So even though I buy meat from a local source that has its own locker plant, or the Never Any brand from Aldi's, I think prices will raise if supply is short.
So now there's packs of bacon in the freezer. I don't think that's a mistake, especially with Winter coming and the pantry is being stocked now, too.

Good price! Did you stock up? Couldn't hurt. I've never heard anyone in my family complain that there was too much bacon.

Jimmy Dean's on sale this week. 2-4-$5

Still 50 tomatoes on DW's vine, so we're good there.

You have maters still?

wrap, pack em, and ship em!!

Thanks!

So, sometimes, BLTs, plus Ts.

Last night was BBQ-grilled pork steak, nuke-baked potato, and Ts.
Bacon and eggs and Hash browns here at the hacienda this morning...... NO "T's"...

I have given up on decent tomatoes and resorted to an alternative. I have been using mandrin oranges on salads and yes bacon lettuce sandwiches subing them for flavorless tomatoes. Pretty good and consistently sweet like a good tomato and they are there year round, just open a can.

City boy trying to live a semi rural life.....I gave up on growing maters years ago. Tried pots on deck and little plots in back yard, fail, fail and fail. Store bought are worthless cardboard. I have a family member that has some land and their mater crop was horrible this year for what ever reason.
