Chester's Reuben

Let me start by saying, if you even like a reuben just a little, you should get this sandwich. Let me try to dissect the sandwich for you.
The Bread is not the typical Rye but is the swirlly kind of rye that doesn't have the typical "bite" that most rye breads have. This was lightly toasted. Just enough so that the outside was not soggy but not too toasted.
The thousand island dressing is homemade. Here again, this is not your typical dressing. It is light and doesn't overpower the sandwich. The sauerkraut is also homemade. It is not the chewy stringy fair that you get from a can. It is thin, wider (about 1/4 inch) cabbage. Again, it doesn't over power the most important part of the sandwich:The corned beef.
Thanks to a previous review, I was prepared for the large thick slices of corned beef. These slices were extremely tender.
Let me just say that the people at the next table were from Texas said it was "Texas sized". It was. I didn't even have room to finish off my fries.

It was a great Reuben and only wish I could express one to Oklahoma City the next time I get a craving.

Isn't it just the best thing you have ever tasted.

If you find a way to express it, let me know because many nights when we are in KC, I sure get a craving for one.

I used to eat Reubens in a restaurant here in KC that had pretty good Reubens.

Then, I tried Chester's and I haven't had a Reuben here again. Just know it would not be as good and I would be so disappointed.

You described the Reuben the best I have ever heard it described. I can almost taste it------ALMOST.

I grew up near KC (Bonner Springs). I am in Oklahoma now. I don't even know who makes a Reuben down here. Additionally, it is hard to find good BBQ down here. Go have some Zarda BBQ for me.

While I was eating the Reuben, I kept thinking, "how am I going to describe this?"

It is so good, you just have to eat it and enjoy.

A KC person away from lots of BBQ places is tough.

One time when I was in Vegas, I asked a pit boss where to get good BBQ and he said "What part of the midwest are you from". I think I was slammed. They don't know what good BBQ is there.

Will think of you the next time we have BBQ.

We were starving this evening, and I called Jeramy at Chesters, to verify that they would be open when we could get there.

An appetizer of Fried pickles, and mushrooms - followed by reubens, a jeramy stuffed burger, and some blackened catfish.............topped off with an order of Bread Pudding............ to say the least, none of us were hungry when we left...... probably won't be hungry tomorrow either.

Thanks Jeramy, and the rest of the Chesters crowd - for providing us with another great meal!

No, there were just 4 of us, but we saw the group of 9 come in and sit in the corner table in the back. We were just REALLY hungry - and left REALLY full - but we didn't want to miss the Bread Pudding everyone had bragged about - last time we were there, Jeramy was out of it.
