Stockstill Park and others closed temporary - flooding

City of Branson has closed Stockstill Park due to flooding.

According to Branson Parks and Recreation Director Cindy Shook, waters from Roark Creek have washed mulch away from the playground, damaged the asphalt walking path and ball field fences, and has deposited rock, gravel, limbs and other debris throughout the park.

Ballfields, the two large pavillions adjecent to ballfields, and playground are all closed.
All pavilion reservations scheduled at Stockstill will be moved to the Branson RecPlex.
The section of the Roark Creek Trail that passes through the park will also be closed, including the walking bridge over the creek.

Stockstill Park is expected to remain closed for several weeks for cleanup and restoration which will begin when the threat of flooding has passed.
“We hope to schedule a community volunteer cleanup day as we have done in past years for Stockstill Park, and have already received so much support from the caring Branson community for which we are grateful,” said Cindy Shook.

Several additional city parks are currently closed due to flooding. Branson officials have issued the following information about Branson Parks:

• Alexander Park has been closed due to high water in the park.
• North Beach Park (north of Branson Landing) has been closed due to high water in the park.
• The Don Gardner Golf Course is closed due to high water.
• The Branson Community Center will be open limited hours to serve a lunchtime meal only.
• The Branson Lakeside RV Park has been closed and recovery efforts will begin as soon as water subsides.
