Thumbs up REVIEW: Hook & Ladder pizza Co. Hollister

Had lunch there today Thursday, 5/16/13.

Very good pizza and wings.

We used our Branson Gift Card that was given to us when we checked into our condo. The deal was, buy a large specialty pizza and get an appetizer for half price.

We ordered a large Super that had almost everything they put on a pizza and six wings with the Frank's Wing Sauce.

The wings were tender and not over cooked, Frank's sauce has enough heat to enjoy and still not burn your lips. I like it when I can taste the hot pepper flavor.

Pizza was very good. Veggies were nice and crisp, meat was all good and the dough and sauce were excellent.

They have a unique crust that obviously has some herbs in it and is made from high gluten flour to give it a nice bread texture. Not like the frozen tasteless dough you get in a lot of todays pizza places.

My final judgement between very good and excellent can't come until tomorrow after it has spent a night in the fridge. If it's still good in the morning for breakfast then it's excellent.

We also took home 2 hose rolls, one cinnamon and one apple cinnamon.

Downing street in Holister is a neat looking little area, a couple restaurants and antique shops and an English Pub. We drove by the Vintage Paris Coffee and Wine Cafe but did not stop in this trip. We will stop there on our next visit down here.

It's one of our favorite pizza spots... their breadsticks are amazing!

We liked it......their crust is different, but very good!

I didn't notice that they honored the Guest Card....we'll have to go back and use it the next time!

Thumbs up Update

I can now say excellent pizza. Crust kept its texture overnight and the taste was wonderful.

Not greasy at all!

This is a hidden treasure in the area, hand tossed dough, home made sauce and fresh cut veggies.

We will make a detour to Hollister if we are anywhere near the area.

Making the extra effort to visit this place will be well worth your time if you're a pizza lover. I can't seem to find the thread that was started about this place when it first opened. There was good info there. When you buy a pizza here you are not only getting a GREAT pizza but your money is going 100% to local folks who do a great job of cooking those Great pizzas.

We ate there 2 weeks ago. The staff was super friendly and the pizza was wonderful. There were several people eating, but it wasn't loud and it didn't take long to get your food and the staff would refill your drinks for you. Will go back for sure.

How does it compare with Pizza by the Chef, also in Hollister?

Thanks!

Good question. They are different from each other. Pizza by the Chef is also a must eat while in Branson. I like the atmosphere of Hook and Ladder much better.
