Thumbs up Review: Hook & Ladder Pizza in Hollister

Went in last night for a pie.
1st-Very odd set up when you walk in. No hostess, no signs to say order here or have a seat. If I didnt say hello to the owner, we would have stood in the lobby looking like lost tourists.
So here is the deal. When you walk in, you have to order at the counter and pay for your food. they will give you drinks and bring the food to your table.
(more on that later)
2nd-DECOR-COOL! it is a fire house themed place, so you will see some old time fire fighting stuff and the serveres are decked out in bunker gear which I thought was very cool!
3rd-It was the first real night of being open to the public, so the wait hopefully will not be so long in the near future. We did wait pretty long for the pizzas.
4th-Pizza-AWESOME! They have made their own recipie dough and sauce. Very very good. we ordered an italian sauage and black olive pizza and bacon and mushroom for the boy. he doesnt like crust anyway so his opinion doesnt count.
5th-Since we already paid for the pizza, when the server asked if we wanted dessert, we had to pay again.
My suggestion, have the customer be seated by a server or hostess, pay when everyone is done eating.
We will go back and try the lunch menu too.

It seems everywhere I go the procedure to order is different, I think I can deal with that. I never order dessert at a pizza joint so I think I can deal with that as well.
What I like is what was said about the pizza. I love great pizza so I'll be stopping in there real soon.

Do you remember what the pricing was?
Or how much was your bill the other night?

Our bill came to thirty something. i think 35, for 2 large pizzas and drinks.
i think the large pizza was $17 or something like that. my wife did the bill.
we are actually going to head there today for lunch with the boy and one of his friends. so we will see how the lunch menu is.

We finally made it to this place. Glad we did. Fantastic all the way around. I think I know where the ordering problem that was mentioned in an earlier post came from. When you go in-use the door on the right. It has a little sign over it that say "entrance". Easy to miss. If you go in the one on the left you walk straight into the dining area.
Best chocolate chip ice cream pie in town. Pizza was great too. I thought the way the place is put together with all the fire house stuff was so cool. The little fire fighter suits complete with red suspenders that the servers were wearing made this place look like a class act operation. Here is a place that is run with a professional attitude and it shows. Spotless, delicious and priced quite nice. I predict big things for this joint.
