There's a GIANT ROOSTER

first there's King Kong hanging on the side of a building on the 76 strip... now there's a giant rooster.

The Great American Chicken or whatever it's called, now has a rooster outside that is as tall as the building .... and it looks like from the web cam you would walk underneath it between the legs to go in the front door.

nothing say's class like walking under a roosters rump to eat.

Well, let's be glad it is a rooster and not a hen. Would hate to be walking under the hen and have an egg drop down.

Doesn't it all come together now.

Well, if we have to have a giant rooster in Branson, at least I won't have to worry about walking under THAT rooster if it's over THEIR doorway.

Okay....... I haven't read all of the posts, so I have to ask......
Does this place offer a breakfast?
If so, has anyone tried it?

Will someone volunteer......?????

Thumbs down Don't waste your time and money!

Went to Great American last week, a few days after opening. While waiting for a table a guest asked to speak to management and the owner came out. The guest was greeted by the owner with "why do you need to talk to me for?" The guest said that they had waited over an hour for a table and the food was poor quality. The owner ended up rudely escorting him out of the building and to his car.

We got our table after a short wait. We ordered the Soup, Salad and Bread Bar ($7.99) and the 4 piece chicken dinner with two sides ($10.99). They come around to your table with extras (fresh potato chips and fried pickles). The potato chips were good and we did not try the fried pickles.

The soup consisted of chili, chicken macaroni and potato. The chili was good, the macaroni in the chicken soup was extremely mushy and the potato soup had no flaver and raw potatoes. The salad bar was marginal with a few selections and the bread bar consisted on hard dinner rolls.

The 4 piece chicken dinner was a breast, wing, thigh and leg. We ordered mashed pototoes and gravy which were bland and macaroni and cheese which was dried up and looked three days old. We sent the macaroni can cheese back and ordered baked beans which were pork and beans and were the consistancy of soup. The chicken was floured and fried and very dry.

They bring cornbread with your meal and it was so overcooked that you could hardly break off a piece let alone cut in open and butter it.

We spent $21.00 and had the worst meal ever. Too bad the building will attract unknowing tourists. I think every local by now knows that a nice building does not deem a good meal. Same owner equals same quality food, it's just not buffet anymore.

Welcome to the board rogerstk.
What a great first review. If you haven't read the other several pages of this thread you might get a laugh out of some of the posts.
I hope this wasn't your first impression of Branson restaurants. The Fogel Fearsome Five, Plantation, Baldknobbers, Fall Creek Steak House, Whippersnappers, and the former Peppercorns, now Great American have gained a well deserved reputation for being among the worst in Branson.
I gave it a somewhat better review than yours, so keep in mind it is probably better than the others!
There are a lot of really great eateries in Branson. Check around on the board. You will find information on many.

Thank you for your review and welcome to the board.

Sorry you had a bad experience but one never knows and was good that you gave them a chance. Guess some things just never change. I do not like to give any restaurant or show a bad review, as reviews here can really hurt or help. However, I continually will give bad reviews to any business that I feel does not give the tourist something for their money.

When your leading industry is tourism, repeat customers are a necessity. When a business uses the "if we get enough in once, that will pay the bills" philosophy of business, it hurts all businesses in Branson, which is not fair to the restaurants and shows that work their rear ends off trying to please the public.

During this weekend we will see the Rankin Brothers and The Presleys and will eat at Chester's. Now those are local business people who care about the people that come into their establishments and work on the "let's give them all we have and they will want to return to Branson" theory.

Thanks for the review and hopefully keeping some people from wasting their money and their time.
