Farmers' Market ???

Are we ever going to get a Farmers' Market, here in Branson? I just got back from the grocery store. I bought about 15 items...things like 2-apples, 2-oranges, 2, Romaine Lettuce and a container of fresh strawberries. I did buy 4 items off of the dollar aisle, and a package of toilet paper...half gallon of almond milk, a 16-ounce tub of yogurt, and frozen blueberries (because the fresh blueberries are outrageously priced). Guess how much my bill was...$47-something!

The two avocados were almost $5. The package of frozen blueberries was $7-something and believe me, fresh blueberries would have been $15 for the same amount. And, they wonder why people don't eat healthy food! And, they wonder why people eat the dollar items, at McDonald's, Wendy's, and Taco Bell.

If I drove to the Springfield Farmers' Market, I'd have to buy so much (to make it worth the gas money)...it would all rot before we ate it all. We need a Farmers' Market in Branson. They said we were supposed to have one every week, downtown. But, I have never seen one.

There's one listed, but I don't know how up to date the site is.

Food prices in NJ are outrageous too. Every time I go to the grocery store, I come home with sticker shock!

For the last three weeks, a local store has offered TRIPPLE COUPONS (up to and including dollar coupons).

My daughter and I spent the last three weekends shopping and stocking up.
One of her receipts was for $133 - but she only had to pay $14
I had a receipt or $40 and only had to pay twenty-eight cents (the tax).

We were able to stock up on lots of non-perishable staples (cleaning supplies, shampoos, toothpaste, detergents, etc) At least we won't have to buy them for several months!

Now back to reality

Is there still a Farmer's Market in Nixa and when does it start?

I'm trying to figure out that one, too.

What on your list could be bought at a local farmers' market this time of year?

The produce I bought, is what they had in the produce department at Country Mart. If I had gone to a Farmers' Market, I would have purchased what they were selling. Supply/Demand and all that good stuff. I probably could have bought the almonds and milked them, myself. :p :)

Well, a good Farmers' Market has more than just locally grown produce. Check out some of the bigger ones, online. You'd be surprised. I've seen Farmers' Markets that make Mama Jean's look like Ha-Bob's.

Yeah, I know. I didn't just fall off the tune-up truck.

I'm just pushing your leg.

Because I know you're a person of the world, I know you know there is one in KC on Friday mornings, once things ripen.

I know. Maybe some day I'll show you how to milk an almond. You'll have to wear your reading glasses, though. :)
