Fishing Guides

We are visiting in August and I thought it would be fun to have my son and his friend and hubby have fishing guide and do this. Has anyone done? Do you recommend anyone? I have heard of this service and anyone who has ever done said it's great and you do catch a lot of fish. I just wasn't sure where to start and how much this costs to do?? THANKS for any tips on this one!!!

This post gives several recommendations, and lots of information.

I've never used a guide to fish, so wouldn't know what to expect.

Fishing guides

 HI,
Try this web site:ozarkanglers.com or lindseyslanding.com. I am going to Branson July 20-22 and will have a guide to fish for trout on Lake Taneycomo. These sites also have guides for bass, white perch, etc. and a lot of information on the different lakes.

Larry,
Please post when you return - anxious to see how you enjoyed the fishing guide - I hear you catch tons of fish and it's quite the experience. Thanks for the info!
ENJOY YOUR VACATION

For fly-fishing for trout on Taneycomo go to www.riverrunoutfitters.com

If they are flyfishing, go to riverrunoutfitters.com. Also, try "Archers and Anglers" (I cannot find their card to give you their website, but it is something similar). If you they are not fishing the trophy fly water, they don't need a guide. Just rent a boat and they will catch all they want on the lower arm. For guides on tablerock, I don't fish Tablerock, but I would imagine either of the two I mentioned would help you out there. Fly.

Thanks! We are unfamiliar with the lakes and are thinking Lake Tanneycomo and we take our boat and just boat for fun on Table Rock. My husband doesn't know much about fishing but he & my son, age 13 want to do a guide and have that experience. Are you thinking River Run Outfitters ths best? I also saw one for Chartered Waters and several others? Any recommendations for first-timers???
Thanks.

You know I didnt even know there was such a thing.....duh me.....heheheh.....but Ive looked at more maps and read more stuff after you asked and I searched here: http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr...sa=X&oi=localr

I have no clue who is best......but with all the telephone numbers....you might get a hint.......by talking to them....Amazing....I thought people used guides in the Amazon or on a Safari.......but not fishing........pretty interesting. :D:D:D

Cheesecake,
THANKS for the website to look at the different options for this. I know it can be a little expensive, but you are guaranteed to catch fish - they provide the boat & everything - thought it might be something special for the guys in my family!

I think this is a great idea Laura.....:D

[aside]
I was thinking (dangerous thing) that Branson needs guides for other things.
Can you imagine a VACATION PLANNER who takes your likes and dislikes, and totally plans everything for you, and picks you up and lets you off, for every event/eating/shows/hotel/fishing.........EVERYTHING.

Now that might be expensive.....but it would create jobs and avoid frustrations....and make a vacation dream come true.

Hehehe....too much too much........

I hope you guys have lots of fun and catch lots of fish.....I LOVE TO FISH....I can drag my stool down to the pond here by the house, and sit for hours.....waiting on that BIG CAT FISH....that has been avoiding my wheatie balls for years........I see him when I feed them fish food........I might have to try Cheerios and beer?.....hmmmmmmmm
Well..Im off subject......

Have a great vacation!!!

It sounds as though your family will be fishing the lower arm of the lake (below Fall Creek) which allows bait to be used. I don't think Riverrun Outfitters guides on the lower arm. I don't know what to tell you about a guide on the lower arm. I am sure they are all fine. Fly.

www.semperfly.com -- gentleman is in Hollister and lists quite a few services (Fly Fishing, Bass Fishing, etc.). You might check him out. Don't know anything about him but he was referred to me on another board. Good luck!
