PUMPKIN, Where Are You?

LAVERNE CROOK (Pumpkin)?

Do any of you have information about her?

She hasn't posted on her Facebook page in several weeks/months?

The last time we spoke by phone, her Husband, Jerry, had passed

Pumpkin you are VERY missed!

Suselit 02-07-2019 10:27 AM

Blaze, you have also been missed.
How are you?

OkieAnon 02-07-2019 10:53 AM

Hey there Blaze, you know I was just thinking about Pumpkin the other day and wondering where she was at, I don't have an answer but it is good to see you checking in as well.

Blaze2 02-08-2019 09:37 AM

Pumpkiin is found! :)

Late yesterday afternoon, I seared in my phone book and found her number.
I called, she answwered and we had the best conversation.

How was I to know yesterday was her Birthday?
It was and she told me I had made her day!

She was waiting on her Son to take her to Dinner,
then said she wasn't going because it's raining and
already dark!
Pumpkin also said I gave her the only present she
needed and definitely made her Day!

This was great to hear but I encouraged her to go to Dinner
when her Son arrived.

As for not hearing from her, you won't!
She gave her computer to her Grandson,
who is in College and needs it, as she told me!

As for coming back to Branson, she explained to me,
she wouldn't be coming back. Why? It was her & her Husband's
time in Branson & she wanted the memories they shared to stay
in Branson!

Most of us don't & won't understand this, but I do!
IF my DH goes before me, I would never cruise again.
Too many memories with him cruising & all we shared!

So, Pumpkin is alive and well, retired from the school Cafeteria.
I asked her what she is doing during the day being reitred?
Her comment was, "anything I want to"!

Who can ask for more? We will talk again & if I didn't have the oven going
off to take Dinner from the oven she would have talked for an hour or more!

Ending I will say Viva la Pumpkin! :)

Thanks for that info Blaze, glad all is well, but hope she gets another computer....if she wants one.

. Got any recommendations for a good cruise line out of Galveston?

biscuitcreek 02-08-2019 05:58 PM

Thanks, Blaze, for the update on Pumpkin, and good to see you posting here again.

Blaze2 02-10-2019 10:17 AM

Dalmation Dad,

Pumpkin told me she is finished with Computer,
coming to Branson

She's doing whatever she want now!
Although I can't see staying at home all the time,
I didn't question her decisions.

As for Cruise Lines out of Galveston,
not a problem at all!
Carnival is always cruising to somewhere & about any time you care to cruise.
Go to their site and pick one!

Royal Carribean also & I have no clue about NCL
Go to www.galveston & read what is offered.

BON VOYAGE!

I have cruisd Carnival almost exclusively and love them. They do cruise out of Galveston. Some friends just cruised Royal Caribbean out of Galveston a few weeks back. I also know tha Disney has a ship that sails from Galveston. Norwegian does not.

Thanks Cutie and Blazer too, we used to use Carnival when it was easy to do living in Texas, and then they started getting a bad rap for this and that, but I guess they have got a few things fixed. Probably will have some teens with us, so all the bells and whistles Carnival has might be a good bet.

Dreaming about Cruises and planning Spring Gardens....anything to lift our spirits during this gloomy time, while wishing for the Sun to appear. Trying to stay positive, looking to the near future, maybe a Branson trip or two?

A Branson trip always lifts my spirits.......now, if the weather will just make it possible.

Anytime you want to ask, IF I don't know the answer I'll get it for you.

With more than 25 cruises, we "think" we've covered all the bases.
We're about 4-5 hours from the Galveston Cruise Port.

Our packing is done completely the night before & in the car.
We leave at least by 10 a.m., so we can arrive mid afternoon.

After making a reservation several weeks in advance, we arrive &
get settled in our room, where we can park the car all week with no
extra charge. We enjoy dining at Gaidos, but there are so many good
places to eat!

Since we have cruised so much our level is up & we have the pleasure
& EASE of Boarding 1st. IMO, the worst part is having to complete our
Cruise Documents & Boarding Pass. Having it mailed to us ended about
10 yrs. ago. Our Cruise Agent is wonderful, been using her for many years.
When there is a great cruise price, she always calls us.

In the past a Passport wasn't needed. We do take ours for the times we're
in a Port. Times have changed and should we ever need the American Consulate.
we'll have it. Nor have we ever purchased insurance, but will from now on!

ADDING:
IF you've cruised very much, you will find several perks they used to do/have are gone!
Tablecloths in TMD are on for Formal Nights.
Men don't have to wear Suits or a Tux!
(Jerry likes this one, for it iliminates 1 pc. of luggage! :)
Slacks & a nice shirt with or without tiies is permitted.
No candy on your pillow!
Room isn't made up each day!
24 hour Room Service only starts & ends at a certain time.

We don't mind these changes.
IF one does, I would say STAY HOME!

We really like RC, but since we have perks with Carnival and are the 1st to board and 1st to disembark,
it's been a difficult choice to make a change, so we haven't! Also we've learned which months are best passenger & weather wise! Should you have any other question, send a message to me & I'll answer ASAP!

As for Pumpkin, we'll be talking again! We've been VERY busy this week and I've not had time to set down
and talk with her as long as she & I would like! Pumpkin is one good woman! She said she doesn't want another computer!
