Eureka Springs
Does anyone have any ideas on places to stay in Eureka Springs? Looking for a nice-clean place.

sdcfan 05-18-2002 08:03 PM

we always stay at the crescent hotel in eureka springs,it is suppose to be haunted!:)

Who's it haunted by? The Abbey I work at is Haunted by the dear monks who passed away there or so I'm told. One lady who goes to work at 5:30a.m. says when she enters the kitchen she can see someone in a rocking chair. My question to her is why would someone be in a rocking chair in the kitchen? Of course she has no answer.

LOL... that would be a good question to answer about the rocking chair in the kitchen.

Anyway, to answer your question about the Crescent in Eureka:

When I was a teenager, my parents took me on the "Ghost Tour" in Eureka on Halloween. (I used to be really into that stuff, but i am not anymore) Anyway, if my memory serves me correctly, the Crescent was a Hospital for a short time. I think it was a cancer hospital..can't remember exactly. Anyway, they said that the Doctor who ran it was mad, and after he died, he came back to haunt the place. It is also supposedly haunted by several nurses and orderlies. People have reported hearing squaking of wheels from Hospital beds rolling down the hall. And it is also supposedly haunted by different guests who for some reason took a liking to the place. I am not sure if this is accurate because I was only 16 when we took the tour.

Anyway, a couple of years back before i started getting really into church, a few friends and I decided to stay in the crescent to see if the sories were true. i will tell you that we had no unusual things happen. The only noises we heard was drunk hotel guests coming down the hall from the Night Club on the top floor:eek:, and the building settling. LOL. :p

Hope this answers your question. :)

God Bless!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

We have only been to Eureka Springs a couple of times. When we did stay there we stayed at a Super 8 just right down the road from the Passion Play. It was really nice and clean and affordable. They had a pool and free continental breakfast. You might try there. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Thanks for your input. I would like to try the Crescent, just for the historical fun of it. Are the rooms nice and clean?

ghost tour
We took the crescent hotel ghost tour when we were in Eureka last month and really enjoyed it. Didnt see anything but the history of the hotel and the stories were fascinating. The Basement is especially creepy. here is a link to the tour

The Crescent
We stayed there many years ago (when they allowed small pets and Morris the cat was still alive). The rooms were in the process of being renovated -- but was very clean and nice. The pool was wonderful and the food in the main restaurant was exceptional. Although we did find DeVito's restaurant downtown the next night and that has been a standard stop for us (even on a day trip from Branson). There is a lot to do down there and we have been wanting to plan another long weekend down in Eureka but we need find somewhere we can take the puppy.

Always a good time in Eureka!

yes, the hotel is very clean and nice. It is decorated in antique style furnishings. The help is very nice and courteous. they are always happy to answer any questions about the history or the "hauntings" LOL... hope you enjoy yourself.

I differ with some of these responses. The Crescent definitely gave me a terrible feeling. Didn't stay there, but went inside to walk around to see for myself. I couldn't wait to get out.

There are plenty of good clean and inexpensive places to stay in Eureka. Try Holiday Inn Express. It is very good and has an indoor pool. 501-253-5040 or 800-986-9733.

Also, Best Western, 888-852-2200;
Days Inn 501-253-8863; 800-DAYS-INN;
Super 8 501-253-5959 or 1-800-800-8000;
1876 Inn 800-643-3030

A little more upscale but wonderful is The Bavarian Inn 501-253-8128.

Check out some more on www.eurekaspringschamber.com

Hope this helps some.

Eureka Springs
I just made reservations at the Budget Hotel. Their rooms were only $39.99 for a family of 4. Have continental breakfast and pool. The trolley picks you up at the door. Near the Passion Play, etc. Check it out at the eureka springs web site!
