Branson's "Namegate" continues but under a new administration
It all started with a September 15, 2006 letter from the city of Branson that was sent to one, and only one, business with the name “Branson” in it, “Branson Sports Club, Inc. a not for profit corporation. Interestingly, between the time that letter was sent and almost a month later when the Branson Sports Club Inc. went public with it not one additional letter had been sent out.
When the letter was made public the Ole Seagull wrote columns on it and made a presentation to the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Development Advisory Council, the Taney County Commission, and the Branson Board of Aldermen. The presentation to the Taney County Commission was typical. Click here for that presentation.
The columns he has written on this issue, in order, are:
1. Give us a break, the City of Branson can keep the term “Dodink” but leave “Branson” alone, please!
2. Wouldn’t it be better for “Branson” if the City of Branson changed its name to the “City of New Branson?
