Just got back from Branson and thought I would share some about the shows we saw. We saw Ray Stevens first. We can't say enough good about this show. I had some doubts after reading other reviews, but we ended up having a great time. He is so much better in person than on video or tape.
Next, we went to the Tall Timber Lumberjack show. This show was really neat also. The men in our group really loved it. My husband got in on the axe throwing contest and we all had a really good time. Some in our group had the steak and some had the chicken. The food was all good and they gave plenty of it. The only real concern was how few people were attending. There were only 30 of us there and 6 of us (that I knew of) had tickets from missouribargains. I don't see how they can stay in business this way and it would be a shame for them to close because they are really different from everthing else in Branson. They tell a lot of history about logging in their show and the kids attending the night we were there seemed to love the whole show.
Our next show was the Acrobats of China. This show was also very good. The things those kids do are amazing!!! But, once again this theater was empty. We saw the 3 o'clock show and there was maybe 100 people there. I sure hope the evening show has more customers. We were surprised at the crowds in Branson. There wasn't nearly as many people as we were expecting. We went to Silver Dollar City and the crowd wasn't bad there either. We had a great time! The weather couldn't have been better. It was so cool! I also wanted to say that we didn't have any problems with our tickets and vouchers from Missouribargains. We tell everyone we know about this bargain.:)

thanks for the review. have tickets for later this summer to see Ray Stevens and after a few of the other reviews was beginning to question that. glad to see you enjoyed his show.

? - if he only does about 3 songs during the first half... does the whole show, esp. the second half run longer than the other shows in town usually do?

Great review.......

You know we have been discussing the empty theaters......

I think what Branson suffers is over kill, when it comes to theaters.......and the customers/tourists have stayed about the same.......now there is more places to see for the same amount of people.

Its like lots of rooms in Branson.....too many Motel/Hotels?......

Maybe if the gambling comes to Rockaway, there will be full houses, everywhere.

Ray Stevens does only do 3 songs in the first half, but the 1st half is very good anyway. Janice Copeland (?) has a great voice and is also very funny. The 1st half is mainly her singing with the other backup girls with comedy mixed in. Hard to explain, but good anyway. We got out of the show at 10:15 or 10:20. I am a bargain hunter, and I still felt like we got our moneys worth with this show. He does a lot of stand up comedy as well as the songs he is famous for. I don't think you will be disappointed.:) Connie

I am glad somebody but me posted a postive review about Ray. From all the shows I ever seen in Branson he is the best of the best as far as comedy goes.

I think you get more for your money at his show. See the band opens the show. This is the biggest complaint I have heard out of people. But what is so wrong with that? At shows like Gilleys or Bandys they take time out and let some of their singers sing and let their band play. This is all Ray is doing as well, but he just let's the band show off their talent before he starts. That way when he comes out, there is no stopping it is all Ray.

I kinda look at first three songs he does in the first half as an opening act for himself. Because once intermission is over, you get one hour and fifteen minutes of nothing but Ray Stevens. His first part of the show takes what? Maybe about 15 minutes or so and after intermission is one hour and fifteen minutes. That is alot of Ray, and alot more time than alot of others spend on the stage. So you get alot for your 30.00 a ticket. I advise everyone to go see this show and don't let reviews that are a bit negative stop you. You need to experiance for yourself and make your own decisions.
