No, there isn't a Wild West Show. Sorry. There's a dinner show called Dixie Stampede, that is very good! It has horseback riding, singing, great food and more! Here's a link. http://www.dixiestampede.com/index.htm

There's also The Roy Rodgers/Dale Evans Theatre and Museum. And the Sons of the Pioneers perform at Sheperd of the Hills.

There used to be a wild west show along time ago. Wasnt that with Sonny? It seems like there was another show called Wild Wild west that was where Moe Bandy is now. It seems like that one was with that big tall guy. But both shows are gone now.

Too Tall was in the Wild West Show with Sonny.

Yes, I think they are referring to the Wild, Wild West show that was in the theatre on Gretna road. Yes, Sonny was there and got lots of attention.

As for the show on 76 where Moe Bandy was, and the 70's show is now, it was the Texans, who originally came to Branson with Chisai in the early 80's. And, yes it was where the tall bass singer sang and stood on stilts outside to draw attention to the show.

thought the tall bass singer and the Texans originally were up on the corner where the Legends are... took it over from the Bob o Links.

saw the tall bass singer a year or two ago, working one of the condo booths in a craft mall. had several people lined up talking to him that remembered him from the Texans. Heard him say he was still trying to hook up with a show in town, just hadn't had any luck yet.

as far as where Moe is now.. can't really remember all the shows that were there, but can't seem to remember anyone standing out waving .. at least when we were in town.

The Texans had a show where the Americanna Theatre and the 70's show is now located for a few years before moving into the Bob-0-Links theatre. This was after the Plummer Family left and before Moe Bandy rebuilt the theatre and had his show there. The Texans show, at one time, was also located where the Haygoods now perform. Just a little history.

I agree, I don't ever remember anyone standing out by the present Moe Bandy theatre and waving. But, let me ask, do you remember the tall Texam standing outside a timeshare place waving to draw attention? Sometimes he used his stilts and long, long pants that made him appear over 10 feet tall. Quite a site.

I hope he finds a show soon it is a shame to think he has all this talent, but instead of being able to use it he is doing timeshares and managing bars. I sure wish him the best.

Your history is correct but the timline is quite a bit off. The tall bass singer with the Texans that used to stand outside and wave at the traffic before showtime was J.D. Capps. He IS selling timeshare for Surrey at present. The Texans came to town and performed at Chisai's Theatre (where Country Tonight is at present). They then performed at the Plummer Family (now the Americana) as a featured act before going over to the Bob-O-Links (now the Legends Family Theatre), again as a featured act at first, then leasing the theatre from Bob Mabe in 1988. Bankru ptcy finally forced them out of that theatre at the end of 1991 where they spent a very strained 1992 performing where the Haygoods are now. They were finally forced out of there and their final performance in town was in the Branson Mall Theatre in the fall of 1992 in front of 7 people. Just like the poem "this is the way the world ends" - not with a bang, but a whimper.

Just interested in any information about former theaters, locations, etc. It is a project I am working on for my own enjoyment. What theater was there before the Music City Center where the Haygoods now appear? I know that theater was not around in 1992. On the same subject, can anybody tell me anything about the Dogwood Theater and the Kirkwood?

I forgot about the Texans being in the Branson Mall but they sure were. Wasn't this after the "reorganization" effort and without Terry as the business manager? If I remember right, they weren't there very long.

Does anyone know what the members, other than J.D., are doing now? Do they still sing?

In Branson they performed...

One year at the Starlite Theater

Three years at the Plummer Family Theater

Two years of Sunday evenings at Silver Dollar City's Echo Hollow

Six years at the Bob-O-Links

One year at the Kirkwood Theater

One year at the Memory Lane Theater

Two years at the Dogwood Theater

The Texans The Texans have received many awards for the talents God has blessed them with. As the Master's Four, they held the title "Texas Group of the Year" from 1975 through 1982. They were also awarded the Ozark Music Awards distinction "Group of the Year" in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 until the awards were discontinued in 1989. They were voted "Entertainers of the Year" for 1987 and 1988. have received many awards for the talents God has blessed them with. For the past three years The Texans have been traveling on the road full time and sing over 300 concerts a year. They have been sharing the stage with great speakers such as Cecil Todd, Jamie Ragel, TD Jakes, Charles Stanley, Paul Vic, Jesse Duplantis, Jerry Falwell, Tim Lahaye, and Joe Wright just to name a few.

The Texans performance is more than just a gospel concert. It is a evening of inspiration, laughter and fun.

Music City Centre is the location of the former Kirkwood Inn, I'm not sure what the name of the theater was, it may have been the Kirkwood theater, sorry, I can't remember for sure. There's a Dogwood Hotel across the street from Billy Bob's Dairyland. The 70's Music Show, which is now at the Ramada Inn Branson Landing (formerly Rustic Oak) was there for a year or so.

Thanks MRC81 for sharing the information on the Texans. I wondered what happened to Sammy Ray. Do you happen to know what happened to Eddie
Bolton? We saw the Texans in Branson many times and thought they were great.

I've lived here 15 years and seen an awful lot come and go. I didn't write down this information like I should have so I may suffer the occasional memory lapse myself but whatever you'd like to know I'll do my best to relate it accurately. Regarding the other post about the Texans at the Branson Mall Theatre (then called the Memory Lane Theatre): It was indeed their last gasp in town without Terry Laird. As to what the former members are up to: Sam Ray is on the road with a quartet (you'd think he'd get the hint and give up the ghost), and the last I heard Terry was selling swimming pools in Nixa or Ozark. I haven't talked to Eddie Bolton or James Walls in an awfully long time so I have no idea what their up to.

Thanks for the answer, Bransonmom. I can visualize the Kirkwood where Music City Centre is, but couldn't put the name to it.

Hmm, I was thinking that for a little while in 2000 Too Tall had a show where Moe Bandy is currently. I was thinking it lasted only a month or two in that Theater, then they left it and finished the year as the afternoon act at the former Moe Bandy Theater which is now where Paul Harris is.

Too Tall did have a show in the former Moe Bandy theater. He was hit with a double whammy. Poor attendance and he had major voice problems. His wife had been in the Wild Wild West show with him.
