View Full Version : What do you think (Plummer Reunion Show)
Here is thought, do you think a Plummer Family reunion show somewhere in Branson would go over?
I think it would be great if friends, fans and family could meet once again back where it all started.
With the current show cast and invite all musicians and comedians that have been part of the show in the past.
Do think enough folks would like to see them again?

I think it's a fabulous idea!! I'm thinking of quite a number of people who would also love to see it! Heck, my parents would probably make a trip down just for that!!

Are you thinking of just a one time engagement? or maybe running a block of dates? When this season?
Yes....we'd very much be interested...where they are at not is really not close to much for us to stop by for a show...but back in Branson...we'd for sure take in the show.
Are you a fan or close friend of the Plummers?
Yes, we are good friends and I play on the current show and webmaster www.plummerfamilyshow.com
I would love to talk the plummers into a reunion show in Branson even if it was a one-time show. I missed the years they were there before.
Who is in the original Plummer show building now?

Think it's the Stuck in the 70's show....could be wrong.
The Plummer Family and Presley Show was always shows we never missed on family vacations when I was a kid...still taking my family on Branson trips now as an adult and carry on the tradition at the Presley show with my kids...but would be nice to see the Plummers again.
You work on that and keep us posted....of course it would be nice to have Melody and Randy there of course!

Can you get Melody and Couzin Zeke (Tim Cagle) back too?
I know it would meen Tim taking a hiatis from his own show over in Cape Girardeau, but I think it would be wonderful.

we saw the Plummers when I was a lot younger ... back in the mid to late 70's I think it was.
remember they had a really good comediean.
packed theater had to sit on almost the back row... didn't know you could reserve tickets back then ..
Presley's, Baldknobbers, Jubilee, Plummers and Bob o Links... we'd see 2 or 3 of those each year.

Let's jump on the Band Wagon and see this happen. It's time they got back over here where they belong. Well, at lease for a few shows. Maybe a series of shows on one week end or MAYBE a giant show at the Palace or the Theatre where the Acrobats play. We could almost surely get the Acrobat Theatre since they are real good about helping out. Something with a lot of seats so we could all go at the same time and really have some fun and let them know how much we appreciated them. I'd love it.
I think some of the other shows would support them and appear on stage to make it a Grand Event. Give them a big Branson Award to Commerate their contribution to the area as one of the "First" four shows on Hwy. 76 in Branson.
If ask, I'm sure Presleys would send someone over to play a role in the Spectacular along with the Baldknobbers and Foggy River Boys. This could be one of the biggest events of the year. ..... a real Plummer Homecoming. Might even invite Randy, if he could practice up on smiling and playing that good base guitar. Might even get him to sing a tune or two from the collection of songs he's written and published over the years.
Lets get this thing going. I love it.

gman - It would be great to have a Plummer Family Reunion Show. Hope you can talk Darrell and Rosie in to doing one or two.
I know several people that would Love to see them in Branson again.
BransonGudTimr, you really have some good ideas on this. I could not have said it better myself, and I agree they did have a big part in making Branson of what it is today.
They are very humble about what their small part of history is in Branson they just see it as being very lucky to have had the chance to be there.
This part of your post is really great!

Thanks gman. I appreciate your comments.
I knew the plummers well and think the world of Randy. I would love to see this happen as I am well aware of their role played in the early days of Branson entertainment on the strip. Would be good for the whole town and a way to pay our respects and say "thank you" to a wonderful family.

Hello, i just wanted to thank You All for Your nice things You said about The Plummer Family Country Music Show. I sure miss the Plummer Family being here in Branson. We had 18 great years here and i definitely would be interested in having a Plummer Family Re union Show here in Branson. The Folks have built a new Plummer Family Theater in Knob Lick, Mo-over in southeast Mo and i go over there at times to sing and play but it would be so neat to have a reunion show here and reunite some of the old pickers and singers and people who used to come when we were in business.
Thank You again for Your nice words. i have just joined this site tonight and looking forward to making Friends in here.
GOD bless. Randy Plummer

I look forward to a great reunion show even if Randy decides to sing. haha
This reunion show has got to happen. It's time. It's time to remember and honor those who layed the groundwork for such a successful entertainment mecca as Branson.
Those shows remaining here get all the credit (as they should) but those who live here know it took more than two shows to start the ball rolling. The Plummer family brought competition and with that came better quality, promotion and recognition raising the bar with professional presentation, comedy and talent.
I look forward to seeing the Plummers honored for their role played in bringing such tremendous entertainment success enjoyed by millions every year.

Was the family in Fannie Flagg's great book "Standing In The Rainbow", based on The Plummers?
I realize everyone, almost, in that book is fiction, but could it be based on some truths?
Loved that book.....and that family.
Was anyone in the Plummer family married to a Governor?

Id love It!!! As you guys know...especially being only 28..Im always in nostalgic mode as it comes to Branson.....The Plummer Family was one of the 3 I saw as a kid (the other 2 - Presleys and Baldknobbers)... and Liked Couzin Zeke when he was with the Plummers...never saw him at his own place when he had it. I think Whatever Moe Bandy's theater was is where the Plummers were in Branson...I recognized it being the building about 12 years ago when we came out there..but didnt even noticed where it used to be or what it is now when we were out there last year..(BransonMom..can you help?)
But Id be up to seeing a reunion show.

I hope you will answer this. But at one time was the Plummer show in the theater where the Legends is now? The Osmonds were there too for a while. It just seems like I remember seeing your show there a long time ago!
Take care,

Hello Deb, Hope You are doing great! i wanted to answer Your question about where The Plummer Family Country Music Show was. We were right between The Baldknobbers & The Presleys Show Theaters. We bought our theater in November 1972 but opened up May 26th, 1973 and closed in October 1990. We weren't in the old Legends Theater...that was the home of Bob Mabe of The Baldknobbers who left and had his own place there called, "Bob O Links" with his wife Sue and Son Jeremy who is now my Doctor in Hollister! Ha
Double Mom, Thank You for Your welcoming me to the Board-it is a neat board and i enjoy getting to meet people here. i really do hope to have a reunion show here someday. If i do i will make sure You know about it.
Mat Maniac, Thank You for coming to The Plummer Family...i sure do appreciate it man! I am like You...i am nostalgic about Branson too....i love this place and hope to live the rest of my life here. It has sure changed so much from the handfull of shows when i came here to the now over 100!~
Thank All of You for Your nice comments..it sure makes me feel great and Thankful to live here and makes me want to have a Reunion Show! I will have to hit up the Folks to see what will happen!

Hmmmm. 1973. It seems that I remember Randy being in that first show but I don't remember any little "kid" playing the bass. Let's see, would he have been around 5 or 6 years old? Surely not. It's now 2004 and that would be 31 years ago. Could it be that "kid" Randy is not a "kid" any more? That would make the "child" only 36 or so now. Mama Plummer, help us out with this dilemma. Is Randy really as old as we may be guessin'? He's always been such a good "little boy," always so cute, always smiling and playing that big bass guitar . . . could it be that he's all grown up now? Let me think, maybe he didn't start playing when he was 5 or 6 years old? Is Randy really as old as I'm gussin' he may be?

Sure he did, here he is at 6 years old. HA!
BransonGudTimr
08-03-2004, 11:21 AM
But he wasn't 6 when the Branson Show started. We're working on his real age and I think we may be getting pretty close to figuring it out. It's like his Mom once said, "this sweet little kid isn't a kid anymore." He sure has grown up. Question for the day....... how old is little Randy anyway?

That theater is now call the Americana Theater and is owned by Bill & Janet Dailey. Bill is always on the look-out for a good show to put in his theater so I would think he'd be interested.
We will see if he tells us, or we take a guess and make him older than he really is. I'm sure he will post a reply to this soon.
I'm leaving for Branson today can hardly wait to get there we just love the place.

Hello Barefoot Eddie, Thank You for puttin in there about the owners of the Americana Theatre..the old Plummer Family Theater. I was unclear about who all owned it now. When we sold out in 1990 we sold out to a man by the name of Mack Stringfellow from Texas who put in Moe Bandy and then i was told Moe Bandy himself then later bought it. Then Bill & Janet Dailey bought it and put in Jennifer Wilsons Show. After that i wasn't sure who all owned it. I had heard that Ron & Judy Lair either bought into it or leased it in later days. If You talk to Bill, please let him know that my Family would be honored to do a Branson reunion Show at his Theatre.
Hello Bransoncutie, (i know who You are) ha Yea, You got me pegged about my love for Branson. I wrote a song about Branson back around 1986 and done a little demo on it but felt it wasn't completed and alot had built up in Branson since then so i did more writting on it and just this year recorded it for my new Cd. It is 10 verses long.
GMan and BransonGudTimr, about the age, You are right..i wasn't 6 when i came to Branson. I moved out here from Southeast Missouri and finished High School at Branson. I had just gotten my drivers licence and learned alot how to drive on Highway 76 and bought my first car here. I have lived right off 76 highway for around 30 years and it is "Still" a driving learning experience! ha
BransonGudTimr & Barefoot Eddie, are You All singers & Pickers?
GOD bless and have a great week. Randy
If You talk to Bill, please let him know that my Family would be honored to do a Branson reunion Show at his Theatre.
How cool would this be for the Plummer Family Country Music Show return for a show in the same place it all started in 1973.

Yes Randy, I am a singer and a picker.
I SING in the shower where no one can hear me and I PICK up my dirty clothes sometimes. Is that what you meant?
By the way, you didn't comment about your age there "kid." Surely you aren't avoiding our consideration. 14,15, 31 Let's think about this for a minute. Momma's little boy has sure grown up.

Miss Nohona, Thank You for not telling...yes, a hug is Yours when You & Your Mom come to the Bacon Family Show. BransonCutie, Thank You too for not tellin my age.....now about the "Advanced Years" comment...we'll discuss that one when i see You! ha

This sounds like a conspiracy. Bet Momma Plummer can surely help us with a little addin' and subtractin' since Randy seems to have "Plum" forgot in his "advanced age" that we all know how old he was when the show started back in '73. Wow, that was a long time ago and he was such a cute little feller. He must really be old. In fact, so old he can't remember how old. Of course, that's what happens when you get into that "advanced age" category and very forgetful.

Cheese, you don't know how old that would make you. This guy is really, really old and approaching serious "advanced age." Of course, he grew old by pickin' and grinnin' and signing autographs and being famous and that leaves him looking like a kid and cute as a "bug." All the girls still "oogle" over him and sigh when he walks on stage. Did I mention that he's single and a great catch for the right girl (grandma)?

I have it figured that "ole" Randy is home sleeping today. I hear his Geritol is running low after the big weekend. "Advanced Age" is tough when one goes all weekend without rest. Poor Old Guy is getting up there in years.
Should they have the Plummer Reunion Show like folks have been talking about, the "Kid" will need some serious rest before getting on stage.

Well, looks like it worked. hee hee
As everybody knows by now THERE IS GOING TO BE A PLUMMER FAMILY REUNION SHOW IN BRANSON ON MAY 5, 2007 AT THE HAMNER BARBER THEATRE AT 3:00 P.M. I agree that it is long overdue !
I have known the family for 25 years plus, probably closer to 30 years by now (Randy and I were trying to figure it out a couple years ago). And yes everyone, I too know Randy's age, but I AIN'T TELLIN' EITHER ! hee hee
I last saw the Plummer Family Show on October 1st at Perryville, Mo. (Hey guys I think you're gettin' better with age. ha ) And I last saw Randy in Branson at the GPG this past Friday night. (You're gettin' better with age too Randy. hee hee)
Do you have any idea yet Randy who is lined up so far for the Reunion Show? Or is it a surprise? ha That was a super idea to have it in the old Plummer Family Theatre - too bad it didn't work out. Maybe next time? Hey gman (I know who you are), I like Branson too ! !
