Summer of 2007 I took my 2 gr ch to see Bart's show.

We got to the show about 5 min late (no more than that). The usherette was very gracious to us & told us the show had just started & it would be o.k. for her to seat us. We had front row seats for this afternoon show; there wasn't 40 people in the audience.....

The usher had to move people who were sitting in "our" seats. I tried to tell her we could sit elsewhere, but she had already cleared "our" seats for us.

Of course, Bart sees whats going on & proceded to talk to me, telling me that the show starts @ 2:30 (or whatever time). I replied "traffic". He says "Haven't you ever been to Branson before, lady? Next time start earlier. & now, you made these nice folks that I was talking to, move, so I can't find them."

I was embarrassed, my gr ch were scared & near tears...... & then, during the show, he made several remarks to me, referring as to whether I was smart enough to "get" his jokes, understand his tricks......since I wasn't smart enough to tell time.....Asked my gr son if he could tell time & to teach Grandma how to tell time.

We left @ intermission. As were entered the lobby, the usherette came over to us & apologized for Bart's behavior. I told her we were leaving & would not ever be back, & I had no idea that his show was "like that". She said she didn't know what was wrong with him that day.......

Will not see his show again.

Sounds like everytime I had been at the theater - only went to his show 2 times, mainly to kill time - I was there for other shows more often. I have to disagree with the "that day" comment. I, for one, am not sad to see that he is no longer in Branson.

I have heard many complaints like this. As for now, nobody will be seeing his show as his theater is up for sale!

Crazy,
I am not surprised you left at intermission...his treatment to you was uncalled for.

Sorry to hear about your poor treatment.

And I thought Kirby was the only Magician, in Branson, that could make an audience do a disappearing act.

He used to have a theater in Eureka Springs before his Branson days. He still has a billboard up in Eureka Springs on Passion Play Road advertising his ES theater.

He still has a magic store there called "Bart Rocket Magic".

You and everyone else. He's taken his show to cruise ships. That way, you can't get up and walk out at intermission.

Well, you could - they have lots of things to do on the ships .... I am sure I could find something I would rather do than be insulted by him.

The first time we went to Eureka Springs, three of us Branson concessions girls rode down together when Bart was still there and we hadn't heard of him in Branson yet. One girl was sleeping in the backseat and happened to wake up when we passed that sign. Lol. She says Who in the world is selling Barf Buckets! We laughed so hard at her and said it was a magician Bart Rockett. Side note, when we passed the hospital that day they were wheeling a dead man into a hearse. My most memorable day in ES ever!

I won't see Bart or Kirby again for the exact same reasons. I don't know why those two think it's funny to ridicule their audience. When we saw Kirby, he made a child cry by making fun of him. That is not entertainment. I would have left Bart at intermission, but my husband was of the "we spent the money, we might as well stay" mindset, so I sat through it, but I found it insulting.

We took the Grandkids to See Hammer Barber, Dixie Stampeed and Amazing Pets. In the Pet show - the host is a Magician with a Monkey.

Our Grand kids wanted to see more magic and we found about the this Bart show as we were heading out of town and I came on here to do some research for the summer - when we will have the kids again.

That just sounds like terrible treatment - and I sure didn't see anything like that at the other shows we went to - everyone in Branson seems so nice. We came up to the stars of the Hammer Barber show during intermission and they were just as nice as can be. They also did an incredible tribute to the veterans - which my husband appreciated (he served in Viet Nam). And in the pet show the dogs come out dressed in Military uniforms! Loved it.

I've never seen the Bart Rockett show, nor do I have a desire to.
As for Kirby, I've heard all kinds of stories about things and how he's rude to people, etc.?
I officially met him the other day and he was nothing but nice the entire time that I was speaking with him. Maybe it's just an act, I have no idea.

We have seen Kirby's show several times, and he has never been rude to anyone when we were there. We enjoy his show, especially the fact that he doesn't take himself seriously.

Thanks for posting that review - but the imput on this discussion says enough.

Can anyone tell me what other shows my grandkids will enjoy?

The Duttons, Presleys and Clay Cooper all have youngsters in their show that your grandkids could relate to; also, their music is very upbeat.
