Strange weather, out here in BW/KC we haven't had a gust above 10MPH(knocking on wood), but lots of rain.

Just got home from Branson a little while ago. Just before 7 all power went out on Green Mountain Blvd (just behind Jims) Winds were really high ... was planning on hitting an 8 pm show, but decided to head home instead. The storm down there was pretty strong, but didn't see any major damage anywhere.

I was downtown when the front first came through. I could hear the metal framing inside the new Hilton rattling around and quite a bit of debris was blowing off the building. The big crane was blowing back and forth as well. It was pretty wicked looking, but only lasted for a couple of minutes.

Wow some wind, I hear.
The video on the news was interesting...
They fixed it...and the show went on...with the help from Home Depot and Lowes?
The news said 800 people saw the show, just alittle late.
Talk about rain?
Its flat pouring like a cow ___ing on a flat rock............Ive had three inches in 2 hours...
And this is turning to ice in the early AM?
Anyway ..wtg Jim Stafford...even without a roof/back wall, the show goes on.

Cheese...is your truckin farmer at home? You take care of yourself....barrel down the hatches...and stay safe. I hate thinking of you out there in the boonies alone in a bad storm. Take care girlfriend..and STAY SAFE!!
I'm going to bed now...so I can leave for those storms in about 4 hours.

Hon Im home...The Truckinfarmer is west of Tulsa....
Unfortunately....a car went out of control near the Cimmeron Turnpike (I think)...and hit him headon.
Car spun from fast lane to median then back into slow lane as TF manuvered a big load into the passing lane, the car spun in the ditch a few times, and came back up onto the interstate and hit the truck headon.
Total wreck, driver fine as frog hair.
Hubby luckily was a defensive driver (complimented by the folks who witnessed the accident, and by the Oklahoma State Trooper)...and the only damage is a bumper into the front tires, and messy fenders..........
The driver of the car was clocked or suggested by witnesses to be going faster than 70 mph.
I can't believe Im so calm.
He had a wrecker come and wench the bumper out...and is now sleeping at a road side rest, so he can further check out his damage in the AM.
If he has to put the rig in the shop out there, Im on the road first thing AM heading for Tulsa, or if he can limp to Pratt KS, and unload...I'll meet him there.
Grandson is a heavy equipment operator, and he is going to Pratt for 8 days construction job. I might follow him.
Then again...the driver might just stay there with Grandson, and wait on repairs...........
Fer crying out loud..............
Bless my heart, Im so calm, Im probably about to have a heart attack.:(
I really should go to bed too.:faint:
Have a good time Patty girl............drive carefully.:D

Oh no!!! Cheese...you are being pretty calm...are you really okay? IF you have to drive over to get him....please don't go alone....go with the grandson, I would really worry about you alone on those roads. Bless the truckin famer's heart...it seems he can't catch a break these days! The most important thing is that he is okay, but the damage doesn't sound too horribly bad on the rig....I hope that it's not.
Good luck tomorrow Cheese...and try to go to bed and sleep off that calm...I'm not sure that's real good for you!! ;) Seriously..take care, okay?
(((hugs)))

Ima going to bed.
Man I am calm...but what else can I do...I wont start out before the ice...I'll wait for the snow..........roflol.
Amazing how a big rig can sustain a hit like that.........
This is the first accident like this EVER since the early 70s.
All those miles...........
He said his EGO is bruised....
I'll be careful, I do nothing risky....I have a great big SUV with 4 x 4, and I wont go alone...I'll follow Matt or something.
Most likely the TF will take a motel, and remain for the duration, til he can come home.
Have fun....Im going to be fine.
   did I say that.
Good night....Im outta here.:faint: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We left Wed afternoon because of the weather threat and I was wondering if we were too hasty in our decision to leave early. We were right. With weather you never know. I am glad so far that no one has been reported hurt and seems as damage has been far less than it could have been. Hope everyone up there gets around safely this morning. Y'all be careful!
Oh Cheese, so sorry about the TF accident. Thank goodness he's okay and also that he's such a good driver. I tell ya, one can never be too careful out on the road these days. You take care and be careful and safe if you do go out to him. God Bless.

Cheese - how about an update! I knew something was wrong! I woke up in a cold sweat about the time this happened (had gone to bed early because of the weather) and couldn't figure out why or what would have happened. Knew it wasn't anyone in my immediate family -- but wondered about the extended family! Now I know! Hugs!!!!!

The Company (me) was notified of the accident (in the diningroom) in the office, early this AM.
My driver is a ''good driver'' and with defensive driving probably saved a line up of drivers behind him from major pile up...WELL...I told them he is an ''experienced'' driver....and thanked them for the notify.
He is about to cross over into Kansas right now....mad as hell.
Well, he is like that all the time...but his pretty truck is mashed up and boy that really pi555es him off.
I suppose that ''car'' driver will wake up this morning with a broken back, whiplash and a need to sue. even tho he didn't need an ambulance last night ....
Im settin here like a big ol hen....
Im not going anywhere yet....
Grandson has to go that way anyway....
And, he said there is NOTHING in Pratt KS re: truck repair.
He has head lights under the bunk, so he will probably have to put them in, as they shake ''loose'' ...........actually even all those amber lights all over the truck ''front'' didn't get smashed....amazing.
Anyway its RAINING HERE LIKE CATS AND DOGS....and its at freezing now.
Son at Troop I in Rolla, called and said: STAY HOME MOTHER....
Soldier Son in AZ called, and said: STAY HOME MOTHER....
You know, adult kids, can be very very bossy.....
Thanks for the caring....
Hugs....
I hope Jim Stafford can get the roof all fixed ...what a trooper he was last night :D:D:D

I'm just glad he is OK. The truck can be fixed a whole lot easier than TF. And I'm sure it is in the cops report that the driver didn't want an ambulance last night. With the witnesses, etc., I don't think you'll have too much to worry about even if he does sue. I'll check back with you later to see how he is doing and of course how you are doing! Hug the animals for me and I know they will hug you back for me!

Jim Stafford had crews working through the night (imagine what that cost) and all shows are going on as scheduled.
I'm staying in Spfld today, not even going to try to make it into Branson. Ice has already begun forming on the trees and power lines. Y U C K :yuck: :yuck:

:D if you won't listen to those grown kids.... listen to the board.... STAY HOME CHEESECAKE.
i've been watching the weather and news this morning and they aren't talking about snow in the inches in North Central Oklahoma and Eastern Kansas... they're talking about 1 to 2 feet of drifting snow, with the flat land we have that will make some pretty tall drifts out there.

Getting really messy here. Cheese, stay home and behave yourself. The TF is a big boy and can take care of himself even if we women "know" he can't. He will make it home fine. The worst of his trip is over after all that.
Have been without electricity most of the day. Just came back on a few minutes ago but expect it go again any time. You know how it goes out here in the sticks. Along with no electricity....no water....no toilet flushing....etc. Just a lovely place to be.
Didn't send the grandchild to school either. The school was open...the only school system around that was....but I wasn't about to drag out and figured would only have to start back when they called it off....which they didn't....only 30 minutes early. Driving nearly 40 miles one way to school just wasn't on my agenda for today.
The front field is covered in ice, the back field patchy. The ice is still coming down...no snow, yet. Some of the tree limbs have broken. I did have to venture out to make a medicine run. That was about 11:00 and the roads weren't too awful bad as long as you stayed in the ruts from other drivers. I don't intend to go out again today...ok famous last words. I don't figure I will be making the school run again tomorrow either. The ice is really peppering down hitting the windows...sounds like rocks.
Everyone take care and don't do anything stupid in this weather...just hole up and be safe.

Yoohoo dear ones....
Isn't this a mess? yuck..........roflol.
I tell ya tho, it takes all kinds of ''stuff'' to make a person appreciate, sunny days and dry roads.
Ive talked to some wonderful Branson Buddies who just care enough to make my day sunny.
How nice was that?
The UPS delivery man came, delivering Christmas boxes, and asked if I had gotten my mail from down on the road. I hadn't. He said, he'd go and get it, so I didn't have to get my boots on.
Now...how nice was that?
Then the Schwan Delivery guys came, bringing the treats. By then the slush/ice/stuff was about 3 inches deep on the patio,....they took my handy dandy snow shovel and pushed the mess off onto the grass.
And, I tossed out some kitty litter, and ............
Now...how nice was that?
All the kids have called, and ''checked on Mom''...
They are pretty great, I think.
I talked to a nice Oklahoma Trooper and a considerate Insurance Man, and thought about the very nice and thoughtful people that I was talking to.
The Truckinfarmer is out there in Kansas somewhere, heading East, and his Grandson, is out there headin' West, talking on the cell phones (hands free) when they find a signal..
You know, in this kind of weather, with it only going downhill, you would think everyone would be grumpy. Well I didn't hear one ''grump'' in the bunch.
Well...possibly the beachcomber, but, that is neither here nor there.
I hope all our traveling pals made it to Branson safely.
I hope Jim Stafford has the big hole patched.
If you are shoveling snow, please know what kind of shape your body is in.
And, don't end your sentences in prepositions like I do...you might insult someone.
roflol.....

When that wind came through we literally had staff crawling under the stage in case the roof collapsed--the sound that it made as it ripped over the auditorium was amazing! Congrats to Stafford to getting up and running in spite of the damage and to his staff for holding thier own against the elements!

The wind also caused damage to Building "A" of the Howard Johnson Hotel. Some guests had to be moved to other buildings in order for them to remain dry.
