Victorian Classic
Friday, March 10th, 2006 - Saturday, March 11st, 2006


Plans are shaping up for the 26th Annual running of the VICTORIAN CLASSIC 10K-2 Mile Run-2 Mile Walk in Historic Eureka Springs Arkansas on March 11th, 2006.

The event is sponsored once again by the Eureka Springs Rotary Club to benefit ECHO, the Eureka Springs Free Health Clinic.

The 10K course is among the most scenic of any run slated each year in the region, with hillside views of hardwood forests, historic homes and businesses located along the Kings-highway/Hwy 62 Historic loop, challenging hills plus flat and fast ridge running stretches.

Both start and finish are at the Eureka Springs High School located near the Inn of the Ozarks which is serving as the Host Hotel. The gun will go off for both events at 9:00 am sharp.

Events planned with the 10K race include a Runners Fair from 4;00 to 6:00 pm and Complimentary Social Mixer starting at 5:00 pm on Friday March 10th at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center. Followed by the Souper-Soup luncheon at the conclusion of the Victorian Classic and Awards Ceremony on March 11th.

The Awards Ceremony will begin at 10:30 am following the completion of the Victorian Classic with awards being offered three deep in the Overall male/female, three deep Masters male/female, three deep in five year age brackets up 75 male/female. In addition awards with be given to the top 10 male/female and finisher medals for finisher 12 and under in the 2 Mile Run and 2 Mile Walk. A variety of door prizes will also be drawn during the Awards Ceremony.

T-shirts plus well stocked goddie bags will be given to the first 400 entrants, once again Blakely Wilson has designed the Victorian Classic artwork that will be featured on the T-shirt.

Entry fees are: $15 for pre-registered runners/walkers if received by March 8th, $10 for runner/walker 17 and under then $20 for race/walk day entries.

New to the 2006 Victorian Classic are personal sponsorship forms for runners/walkers that have secure sponsors for participating in the Victorian Classic.

Ozark Extreme Adventure Sprints
Saturday, March 11st, 2006 - Sunday, March 12nd, 2006



Back for 2006 the Ozark Extreme Adventure Sprints will consist of three races throughout the state of Arkansas. You will find at each race location navigation clinics, rogaine events, and our adventure sprint races. Navigation/ Orienteering has now been added to the advanced category. For participants that are not ready for navigating, our basic division will remain the same with a marked course. Two person teams or solos will hike, mountain bike, paddle, navigate (advanced) and possibly take on some special activities throughout the course. Each racer should prepare for 2 to 4 miles of hiking, 8 to 12 miles of mountain biking, and 2 to 4 miles of paddling. This is a great event for anyone interested in adventure racing.

Dates and Locations of events are:

March 11 and 12 Lake Leatherwood Park, Eureka Springs, AR (NW Arkansas Area)

June 3 and 4 Burns Park, North Little Rock , AR (Central Arkansas Area)

August 12 and 13 Lake Ouachita State Park, Mountain Pine, AR (Hot Springs Area)

Man, I didn't realize this stuff was going on this weekend. Sorry I didn't get this posted sooner. This is really going to be a heavy duty weekend in Eureka Springs
