While looking for some info on Myrtle Beach found a forum that's similar to our beloved Branson message board, if anyone is interested it's at funbeaches.com.

Shhhhh! We need to get them to come over here and join us! Not the other way around. :D I've found that many who love Branson, do visit other places and have experiences to share. I'm working to expand what the site here covers and Myrtle Beach is an area that several users here have experience with. We'll be adding other areas in the coming months.

Stay tuned.... ;)

According to MapQuest:

Total Est. Time: 18 hours, 31 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1146.22 miles

A bit of a drive. Last 2 times I went on vacation, I ended up in Orlando once and Atlantic Beach, NC once. It's all about the journey....:D

It's also about The Gas ;)

Unfortunately I'm afraid gas prices may change our vacation plans.

One of our friends liked to drive-drive-drive. Older lady with a cadillac. She one drove to Vermont from Wisconsin to buy some maple syrup.

Boy! Ain't that the truth. I just got back from a 17 day vacation that put 3042 miles on my car. That translates into hundreds of dollars of gas! ;)

The trip incidently included Myrtle Beach, but we stayed part of the time with relatives in the less commercial areas of the Grand Strand; their place is in Pawleys Island, SC.

I think we got close to Atlantic Beach, Basil ... on our way to what was to be a couple days in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I say "was to be" because I don't know if you heard about the unusual (and very unseasonable) high winds there last weekend that prevented the ferries from running and forced us to scrap that part of our trip. :( Oh well.... reason for another trip. I'm just thankful that we got out of "Cedar Island" without being stranded there for a couple days! When you see a duck swimming across the road in front of your car (ocean water over the highway!), it gets mighty scary. We made it ... and the car got a good washing afterwards! ;)
