SCOTT RILEY AND JAMMIN' COUNTRY
Written by CGROTZKY
There is not a better way to start the day than with Scott Riley and his Jammin Country Morning at the Caravelle Theatre. Scott Riley is an extremely talented musician who fronts a premier country band that plays the hits of the great country artists to perfection. His band includes the legendary Cal Smith who also performs his hits. As you enter the theatre, Cal is sitting on the stage talking to the audience like one would talk to neighbors you have known for years. Scott is also supported by the great steel guitar legend Tom Brumley who has been elected to every steel guitar hall of fame and played steel for Buck Owens, Ricky Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Dwight Yoakum, Rod Stewart, Merle Haggard, and Reba McIntyre to name a few. On piano is the multi-talented Tony Carson. On lead and backup vocals is Taria Lee Green an extremely talented and gracious singer who exudes the fun and enthusiasm of country music even when she is not singing. Upon hearing her sing the great classics, it is clear why she was chosen to perform at the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 15. What struck me as I watched the show was that I was watching three generations of great country music performers, from Cal Smith and Tom Brumley, to Scott Riley, to Taria Lee Green who have dedicated themselves to playing country music that will put a lump in your throat. This is a "don't miss" show.
Jammin Country Morning

I saw the show today and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Scot Riley can sing a variety of songs well but he surprised me with his excellent job on Glen Campbell and Gatlin Brothers songs. Taria Lee Green sings great background harmony and also excels on her solo numbers. Cal Smith lived up to his long-running reputation. He is a genuine classic artist with a great sense of humor. He kept the audience laughing, starting out even before the show began as he spent several minutes talking with the audience as they kept filing in. He sang his classic hits, Drinking Champagne, The Lord Knows I'm Drinking, Country Bumpkin, etc. He was as smooth today as he was 30 years ago.
