Oakridge Boys Christmas Show

Written by corymor1

I saw the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas show last night.

Pros : I was delighted to see that these older men still have those incredible voices that they had when they were years younger.

Cons : I didn't like the program. I came to hear the songs that made them so popular. They sang "Elvira" (which was very good) and a couple of others. The rest were "made up" songs that no one has ever heard of. The same was true of the Christmas songs. They sang very few of the traditional Christmas songs that we can all relate to from our childhood, but instead sang songs that they must have hurriedly made up themselves just to fill their agenda. To make it worse the songs "weren't very good"

I realize that "The Oak Ridge Boys" are what people came to see, but too much of a good thing is not a good thing. They need a few different acts to break up the program. (like the one song performed by a band member). For the last 20 minutes of the show I thought "I hope this is the last number, because these guys are getting on my nerves". If I hadn't been with a group I would have gone home at that point.

The props were very bad. Instead of complimenting their act, the background videos were distracting and annoying and of extremely poor quality. Also, the exta bright lights that frequently flashed gave me a headache.

The rating of 3 out of 10 I gave them is probably generous, but I did enjoy the great sound of their voices (for a while).
